A Message From Our President

The image of the flower as the GRATITUDE that comes from the SOIL OF PRAYER is so powerful to me and I hope to each of you. As we pray each day and ask God for His help, we should never forget to start with prayers of gratitude. Our attitude of gratitude will "grow" and blossom beautifully like flowers if we just use prayer to plant the seed.
Our Special Gifts of the Season

Thank you for your continued patience as we work through some challenges with our Service Hours Parent Portal. In the meantime, we ask families to please continue to keep track of their hours performed as you will have the opportunity to record your hours once the Service Hours Parent Portal goes live. Advent Retreat at SJSC with  Immaculée Ilibagiza
December 9 & 10

Would you like a little spiritual "pick me up" this Advent?  St. Junipero Serra Catholic School will be hosting a very special retreat this Advent Season. Our guest speaker will be world renowned Immaculee Ilibagiza, the Rwandan genocide survivor who will speak on Forgiveness & Hope. This retreat will be held in the Student Activity Center beginning the evening of  Dec.9 at 5 p.m.  and will then continue the morning of  Dec.10  with mass at  8:30 a.m.  and ongoing testimony from Immaculee concluding at  12:30 pm . Ilibagiza's entire family, except for one brother, was killed during the genocide in the 1990's when members of the Hutu militia slaughtered about one million Tutsis - Ilibagiza's tribe. llibagiza survived for 91 days with seven other women in a 4-by-3-foot bathroom in the home of a local pastor. She chronicled the experience in her first book "Left to Tell," which sold more than a million copies. She tells a very compelling story of love for our Blessed Mother. We hope you will join us for this amazing experience.   CLICK HERE  to register and for more information.

2016-2017 Annual Fund
Our students are blessed by the many resources the Annual Fund has afforded them. Our new Promethean boards are the perfect example of the elevated level of learning they experience daily as a result of the Annual Fund. We would like to provide even more of these programs!

Your commitment to keeping St. Serra strong through a donation to this year's Annual Fund will do just that!
We would like to, once again, recognize the 87% of St. Serra faculty and staff who have donated so far. What an inspiration they are each and every year. We have only received 11% Parent participation to date.  Please consider joining those who have already given by making YOUR contribution today.

Tuition Assistance Luncheon

Plans are underway for January's Tuition Assistance Luncheon! Reservations are coming in, hostesses are planning their tables, and the committee is working on every detail to ensure you enjoy this very special day.

Help us make this event a success:
  • Volunteer - There are many ways in which you can help us make this event a success while taking care of volunteer hours. Sign up here to join our team!
  • Register - Early bird deadline is coming up on December 9. Reserve your seat at $80 before registration goes up to $95. More than half the seats have already been reserved and we expect to sell out well before the day of the event.
  • Become an underwriter - Help us keep the cost of the event down, so that 100% of the proceeds can go directly to serve those who need it most - students and families for whom a Catholic education would be out of reach without tuition assistance.
  • Fill our Opportunity Treasures Baskets - These popular baskets are a hit with participants and help raise more funds than would be possible in other ways - often exceeding the value of the items! Please see our wish list of specific items and consider contributing to them. For more information or to donate an item, please contact Stephene Salcido, Opportunity Treasures Chairman, at
On behalf of the children who will benefit from your support in ways we cannot measure, thank you for your participation and your help with this year's luncheon. We look forward to seeing you there!
