St. Junipero Serra Catholic School presents the documentary film, SCREENAGERS on Tuesday, February 21 at 6:30 p.m. in the Student Activity Center.

Are you watching kids scroll through life, with their rapid-fire thumbs and a six-second attention span? Physician and filmmaker Delaney Ruston saw that with her own kids and learned that the average kid spends 6.5 hours a day looking at screens. She wondered about the impact of all this time and about the friction occurring in homes and schools around negotiating screen time-friction she knew all too well.

In SCREENAGERS, as with her award-winning documentaries on mental health, Delaney takes a deeply personal approach as she probes into the vulnerable corners of family life, including her own, to explore struggles over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction. Through poignant, and unexpectedly funny stories, along with surprising insights from authors, psychologists, and brain scientists, SCREENAGERS reveals how tech time impacts kids' development and offers solutions on how adults can empower kids to best navigate the digital world and find balance.

Grandparents and Special Friends Day
Friday, March 3, 2017

An invitation to Grandparents and Special Friends Day is in today's Weekly Envelope.  If you did not return your envelope this past week, you may pick up your invitation in the School Office. In order to eliminate waste, only one invitation was sent home per family. If you need additional invitations, please email and indicate how many extra invitations you need, your name, and the name and homeroom of your oldest child so we can send the extra invitations home in a timely fashion.
Please make sure to follow the directions on the front of the envelope and be sure that your student's guest(s) receive their invitation as soon as possible.  All RSVP's are due by Friday, February 17.  Guests may also RSVP online via the St. Serra website by CLICKING HERE.
Once again this year, we are extremely limited with parking for our guests.  Keep this in mind when making your plans for this day. We strongly recommend that all guests carpool with their students. Parents can drop off and pick up guests with their students. Several staff and volunteers will be assisting guests that need help while visiting campus.
Please contact Pam Owens in the Advancement Office at ext.165 with any questions.
We look forward to seeing everyone on March 3rd!
