Scholarship Presentations

What a night! The Liberty Sertoma Club was honored to participate in the LPS Community Scholarship Awards Night on Wednesday, April 30th, and had the privilege of awarding $7,500 in scholarships to incredible LPS students.

The Liberty Sertoma Club scholarships are named after club members who embodied our club moto, "Service To Mankind", Bill Kersten and Pid Lowman.

Bill Kersten was a livelong, dedicated resident of Liberty serving our community in various roles including as Clay County Easter Commissioner, Clay County Public Health Board Trustee, Liberty City Councilman and Mayor. Bill is also in the Wrestling Hall of Fame as a ringside announcer for All Star Wrestling.

The 2025 Scholarship Recipients are:

Club Business

Introducing Your Ultimate Club Pit Crew!

Rev up your engines and get ready for a thrilling update from the Liberty Sertoma Club Board of Directors! Just as in high-octane car racing—where reserve drivers stand by, ready to jump in and keep the team rolling—our club is now excited to introduce a dynamic new membership feature. Starting today, any primary Sertoma Club member can designate a secondary member for the low price of $150 annually (must be paid in full at time of designation).

This innovative option means that if you’re unable to join our weekly club lunch, your backup can slide right in, ensuring you never miss a pit stop in our busy club schedule. Both primary and secondary members are welcome to join our club socials, fundraisers, service projects, and more. However, please note that while membership dues cover the lunch for the primary member, if both attend the weekly lunch, the restaurant cost for the secondary member’s lunch order is not included and must be paid separately.

Gear up, engage your team spirit, and drive the momentum at Liberty Sertoma Club with this fantastic new benefit! For more information, and to designate your second, contact Club President Gayle Potter.

Flag Program

Next Flag Day:

  • Memorial Day, May 26
  • Flag Day, June 14
  • Independence Day, July 4

Sertoman's we need your help with the Flag Program. Many hands make light work, so we'd love to get everyone to participate. To that end, we came up with some volunteer options, so if hanging or picking up flags isn't your thing, you can still contribute. Please contact Rachel Hollinberger with your preferred interest.

  1. Choose some days when you can do half or all of a flag route
  2. Go out to businesses near our current flag routes, and ask them to buy a flag contract
  3. Make calls to former flag route patrons when they fail to renew (or are late)
