Prayer Requests
Your prayer concerns are important to the English District. When you submit a prayer request, with your permission, it will be posted in this weekly eNewsletter. The Bible's promise is true: "If we ask anything according to his will, he hears us" (1 John 5:14).

Please keep the community of North York, ON, the Greater Toronto Area, and Iranian-Canadians in your prayers. The tragic loss of life onboard Flight PS752 from Tehran to Kyiv has greatly impacted these communities. Many local school students, returning from holiday trips, are among the deceased. We pray that God would comfort this community as it mourns, with the sure and certain hope of the resurrection.

Please pray for Chuck Novak, for healing and strength.

Please pray for our brothers and sisters in Puerto Rico following the earthquakes.

The District  daily prayers for February are available on our website. Please join us in prayer.

Email  Holly Scheer  with your prayer requests.
The IRS considers member congregations, the schools they operate, as well as most other organizations affiliated with The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod, as tax-exempt entities because they are organizations described in the Synod’s group tax-exemption ruling under code section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC). A copy can be found in the  Congregational Treasurer’s Manual .

Lutheran Church Extension Fund

Blessings to you in this New Year! I pray that the Advent and Christmas seasons have been a wonderful time of spiritual refreshment for you through the beautiful celebration of Emmanuel—God with us! Thank you for your tireless efforts to support your congregation and proclaim the good news of the Gospel to a straying world. In this new year, may our Lord Jesus Christ richly bless you and your congregation with His grace and mercy, and may His Spirit be at work in your midst.

The new year is often a time when we think about our finances and getting things in order. I want to make you aware of some opportunities available to the members of your congregation through Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF). We have made bulletin announcements for four of our most recently introduced or updated investment products. I kindly ask that you share these with your congregation so that LCEF may continue to further the ministry of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.

For more information contact David Thiele, English District LCEF Vice President, at 517-980-2857 or by  email .
Worker Wellness

This week's LCMS devotion focuses on Physical Wellness . These weekly devotions are meant to encourage church workers and help them to explore ways to find wellness in their own lives as well as their families' lives.

These devotions are an excellent way to prayerfully practice self-care throughout the week.
In Our Churches
Church of St. Luke Lutheran, Toronto, ON
God's people at St. Luke celebrated the mission and ministry of Rev. Dr. Dusan Toth. He explained that he is not stopping from being a pastor but stepping away from parish ministry to focus on other opportunities of ministry. Pastor Laughridge invited anyone present who wanted to come lay hands on Pastor Toth, and together they prayed a prayer of thanksgiving for him and blessing upon him. Members of St. Luke Slovak Fellowship gathered for a group picture with their cherished pastor of so many years after he led them in worship for one last time in this role. Their service was followed by food, fellowship, and a cake.
Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Chatham, ON
This nativity scene was donated to the church over 38 years ago by some faithful members. The community has come to recognize the church as “the one with that nativity scene” and often stop to take pictures with it.
