Lake Erie Regional Conference
The Lake Erie Regional Pastors Conference of the English District was held at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Dorr, MI. The members at the church were very gracious, caring for the pastors and spouses this week. District 1st Vice President Jeff Miskus of St. Mark, Mississauga, ON, chair of the Lake Erie Regional Pastors Conference committee, planned a conference with great worship, fellowship and study together!
Rev. Jeff Miskus, District Vice President, was conference chair, pictured on left. On right is Rev. Dereck Pillay, of St. Matthew, Toronto leading morning worship.
Rev. Derek Mathers, District Mission Executive & Assistant to the Bishop, discussed ways that congregations and pastors can be helped as they serve their communities.
Called to Glory
The Rev. Dr. Charles J. Evanson (Emeritus) was called to his eternal rest on Sunday, October 14, 2018. The funeral service will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church (202 W. Rudisill Blvd., Fort Wayne, IN 46807) on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 3:00 PM. We pray the Lord’s blessings on the Evanson family.

National Youth Gathering District Youth Event
All youth and leaders from the English District are invited to the district event on Sunday, July 14th. Round trip transportation will be provided from the convention center as we head to Minneapolis Sky Zone—an indoor trampoline park. Once at Sky Zone we will have opportunity for several rounds of ultimate dodge ball (including an adult vs. student round and blacklight). Since we have the full facility, other opportunities such as sky climb, warrior course, foam jump, and sky joust are available. All you can drink soda on site and a meal are included. Since there is no mass event on this evening it’s a perfect time to join us. Cost is $40 per person and includes bus transportation, entry to Sky Zone, meal, and a district t-shirt.

Prayer Requests
There is power in prayer. Your prayer concerns are important to the English District. When you submit a prayer request, it will be posted in our weekly eNewsletter, Servant to Servant. The Bible's promise is true: "If we ask anything according to his will, he hears us" (1 John 5:14). Please email  Holly Scheer  with your prayer requests.

In Our Prayers:
The Rev. Dr. Victor F. Halboth, who is receiving hospice care at home

For encouragement, strength and health for our church and school workers and volunteers
Joining us in 1-1-1:
Calvary, Mechanicsburg, PA - Rev. Luke Zimmerman from Circuit 2; Advent, Zionsville, IN - Rev. James Grady, Circuit 14 and Trinity, San Dimas, CA - Rev. Matthew Payne, Circuit 23. This brings us to 43 congregations participating in 1-1-1.

Won’t you join us today, so we can dream big together?  The more congregations that participate the more support there will be for missions to touch lives with the Gospel of Jesus.

Find the list of participating congregations on our website.

Questions? Contact  Rev. Derek Mathers  or  Rev. Justin Laughridge.

Thank you for supporting 1-1-1!
The English District office has received some wonderful articles and pictures from participating congregations of their 1-1-1 giving box and how their congregation is promoting this program. The district wants to be able to share your stories and pictures in the Servant to Servant as quickly as possible, so we are promoting one congregation the first and fourth week of every month. In week three we will share with you the list of participating congregations. On the fifth Fridays we will share stories from one of the two missions we are currently funding.  May God bless you as you continue sharing the Gospel with all people!
