| | Over 70 Lutherans in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, participated in the 2025 March for Life. The state of Pennsylvania permits women to murder their unborn children through abortion up to 24 weeks (or about 5 1/2 months) into pregnancy, with exceptions allowed for threats to the life of the mother up until birth. Mount Calvary Lutheran Church sponsored this event. ...Our deeply held conviction that Christ died for all people is informed by Scripture. Consider, for example, John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” (emphases added) Furthermore, 1 Timothy 2:4: (God) “desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (emphases added). Indeed, this very truth undergirds our proclamation of the sanctity of all human life from its very beginning as a one-cell individual, into eternity...

| | 1-1-1 Dollar for Missions | | |
The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Matthew 25:40
When we give money to a mission, to whom or what are we giving? The missions that our members’ 1-1-1 Dollar for Missions dollars support are not situated where there is an abundance of LCMS options that share “Grace Alone, Faith Alone, Scripture Alone” truth in theology. Rather, these missions are placed where those who are helped have little opportunity because they are a distant, forgotten, disadvantaged, or underserved community of believers, a field that is ripe and ready for the Lord’s harvest. In a society that thrives on its many options, for the majority, might these be whom Jesus meant by the least of His brothers and sisters? With our Mission 1-1-1 offerings, we aim to support what Jesus says in Matthew 9:37, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few."
More Scripture and messages for Mission 1-1-1 are available on the district website. Please consider using this resource as a way to build up the visibility and awareness in your congregation.

The church takes the entire month of October to kick off a yearlong observance of church worker appreciation. During the year, we will celebrate and recognize the ongoing faithful service of each LCMS congregation’s called worker(s). Along with highlighting all church workers throughout the month of October, we also encourage you to mark the dates below as they pertain to your context. Synod staff have compiled a list of church worker appreciation ideas for congregations, varying in degree from simple to elaborate — find inspiration and ideas here.
As you celebrate your pastor, deaconess, DCO, DCM, DPM, or others in service to our congregations, please email photos to be considered for future issues of Servant to Servant.
