1-1-1 for Missions
Peace Lutheran Church, New Berlin, WI

Peace Lutheran Church is one of 62 congregations of our District participating in the English District 1-1-1 (A Dollar for Missions) focus. Their congregation has a passion for the mission and ministry He has called them to.

Pastor Michel shares, “We actively began our involvement with 1-1-1 at the beginning of Lent 2019. Before 1-1-1, Peace had already been promoting many different mission efforts throughout the year, a different one each month. And so, when we began promoting 1-1-1, I was unsure about its success as it would run alongside of our other mission-related efforts. However, God has moved His people at Peace to give joyfully, consistently, and even generously throughout the seven months we have been involved in 1-1-1. It is not uncommon for me to see bills larger than $1 in the box.”

Questions? Contact    Rev. Derek Mathers    or    Rev. Justin Laughridge.

Congregations who have collected dollars for 1-1-1, please send a check payable to the English District LCMS to the district office. IPlease indicate that the money is for 1-1-1. This way we can make sure the two missions receive the support you are generously providing.

Shepherd of the Coast Lutheran Church, Palm Coast, FL

Sheriff Rick Staly and his wife, Debbie, along with Palm Coast Fire Chief Jerry Forte attended a beautiful and moving Veterans Day service at Shepherd of the Coast Lutheran Church and were presented a Thin Blue and Red Line American flag symbolizing the line first responders stand between evil and good and their service to the community. The church will display the flag in their hall of honor.

All who attended were given a poppy flower to place on a wreath during the service in remembrance of a veteran who has passed away or in honor of a veteran who is now serving or has retired. As in past years, local heroes from the police and fire departments were invited. A public luncheon immediately followed the service.

The Vietnamese Boat People Monument honors the Vietnamese refugees who came to Canada in the late 1970s and early 80s to escape the Communist regime in Vietnam, as well as the approximately half a million lives that were lost at sea on the journey to freedom. The monument is an offering of gratitude to Canada by the Vietnamese-Canadian community for the humanity and compassion they received when they arrived. Ken and Ruth felt moved to have a plaque placed on the monument in recognition of Church of St. Mark- Lutheran sponsoring their family.
