English District Virtual Gala
Please click on the photo of Pastor Josh Ulm for an important message.

Last year some congregations held "watch parties" to encourage people (especially people not online) to gather and participate together to watch the Gala. They put up a screen somewhere in the church and members were encouraged to come and watch the Gala together. Please find someone to run this at your church. If your church registers to do a watch party, we will send you a "Watch Party Package" which is designed to promote the theme and provide a festive atmosphere and fellowship. Click here to order a Watch Party in a Box.
District Lifeline Committee
I am deeply honored, humbled and richly blessed to have been asked by Bishop Hardy to serve as District Life Coordinator and Chair of the Lifeline Committee. Our Synod has recently put added emphasis and energy into her Life Ministry outreach, including the funding of the Million Dollar Life Match grants, and this is truly an exciting time in which to serve! I thank Rev. Timothy Halboth and all who have previously served as Lifeline chairs and committee members and am looking forward, God willing, to continuing the work of helping facilitate the sanctity of life witness in the communities we serve.

I would like to move quickly to form our District Lifeline Committee. Do you have a passion for proclaiming the sanctity of life in your community? Would you be interested in helping your District be a voice for life through her congregations? If so, I would love to have your help. Please email me at rgrad@catalinalutheran.org, and I will include you. Even if you are not able to serve at this time, I ask for your prayers, that everything we do is winsome and God-pleasing.

Thank you to Bishop Hardy for asking me to serve, to Rev. Derek Mathers for his wonderful words of encouragement, and to you all. God's richest blessings on you, your congregations and our beloved English District.

In Christ,
Roni Grad

Standing with Church Workers and Their Families for Their Strengthening
Upon hearing that a fellow pastor had resigned his call, Pastor Greg wrote: “While all of our situations are unique, I encourage my brother pastors...and actually all my dear friends.... don't be afraid to seek out help for mental health issues, burnout, anxiety, depression, and the like. Don't ignore it, sweep it under the carpet, kick the can down the road, or hope it magically goes away. It doesn't work. It will never work. Seek help....and cry out to God! He hears you and is with you. He will provide!”

Your English District Ministerial Health Commission is ready to listen with respect so we can act with understanding and compassion. We are here to walk together with those seeking hopefulness, courage, and strength to move forward. We value confidentiality as a cornerstone in all our endeavors.

You are welcome to contact any of the members of the Commission.
Presidential and Vice-Presidential Nomination Reminder
The 2022 English District Convention is scheduled for June 20–22. The February 20 deadline for congregations to submit nominations for President and Vice President is this Sunday.

Nomination ballots for President and Vice President were previously mailed to each congregation of the District. With the deferral of the District Convention from 2021 to 2022, congregations may have postponed decisions about nominations.

Congregations that have yet to submit nominations for President and/or Vice President may do so prior to the February 20 deadline. Some may have Voters Assembly meetings scheduled for January or February, which would provide an opportunity for those congregations to determine whom they wish to nominate.

If your congregation has already returned nomination ballots for President and/or Vice President, those have been received and recorded.

If any congregation needs new nomination ballots, please contact the District Secretary, Rev. Luke Zimmerman, who will supply replacements. Other questions about the Presidential and Vice-Presidential nomination process can also be directed to him.
