1-1-1 Dollar for Missions

The Montreal Forum and congregation of Ascension Lutheran Church, served by Rev. Charles St-Onge, is a 2024-2025 1-1-1 Dollar for Missions recipient. The QR code on the flyer below will direct you to Rev. St-Onge's blog, "In The Way," where he posts a monthly newsletter and photo gallery providing updates about the mission.

The English District’s model for funding missions is simple, but powerful: $1—per member—per week. Click here for more information on 1-1-1 ministries. Click here for 1-1-1 FAQs.

Many congregations decorate special containers for their “1-1-1 Dollar for Missions” donations...we would love to see yours. Don't have one yet? Now is your chance to be creative! Email an image of your 1-1-1 donation container to be included in upcoming issues of Servant to Servant.

In Our Churches

St. John's, Pembroke, ON

Confirmands of St. John's Lutheran Church had a great Question Night before they were confirmed. They celebrated the end of confirmation classes with a delicious cake and fellowship. Confirmands Abrielle, Brooklynn, Nicholas, Ryder, and Jaelyn are pictured here with Pastor Stephen Alles.

Faith, Overgaard, AZ

Faith Lutheran Church, served by Pastor Rodney Schmeltz, recently hosted its annual rummage sale. In addition to sale items, the event included a prayer booth and a food court.

Redeemer, Oakmont, PA

The saints of Redeemer Lutheran Church welcomed three new communicant members, pictured here with Pastor Adam Koontz.

Redeemer, Sarnia, ON

Members at Redeemer Lutheran Church continued the congregation's 90th anniversary celebration by hosting a neighbourhood barbeque. Although it was a chilly day, over 100 people attended and were treated to hot dogs, cookies, popcorn, cotton candy, and lemonade served by Redeemer members and friends. There were games for the kids, and Pastor Colton LaMay entertained with music. Praise be to God for this wonderful outreach opportunity!

Mount Olive, Tucson, AZ

Andrew from Mount Olive Lutheran Church delivered 433 toys to the Tucson Children's Hospital for their young patients. This was his second toy drive; he surpassed last year's toy drive collection by 68 toys. Five hospital staff members met with Andrew and were very excited and thankful to receive the donation. They discussed the need for these donations during the summer. These toys were collected from Mount Olive Lutheran Church members, families at Andrew's school, and community families. Andrew, who was born with a congenital heart defect and spent much time in the hospital as a young child, remembers the impact a fun toy or gift made to him during those days. He wanted to give that feeling to children who are currently in the hospital. Andrew plans to host a toy drive again next year.

West Portal, San Francisco, CA

West Portal Lutheran Church recently welcomed Madelyn into the family of Christ through the waters of baptism.

Pictured here is Madelyn with her family, along with Pastor Curtis Binz and Pastor Jacob Swenson.

West Portal's choir participated in Madelyn's baptism ceremony.

Shepherd of the Canyon, Gold Canyon, AZ

Shepherd of the Canyon Lutheran Church received its first members through their Confession of Faith after adult instruction classes. These two adult men spent time with Pastor Mark Wood learning about the Lutheran faith. After completing the classes, they made the decision to join the congregation and participated in Holy Communion for the first time as well. Pictured below is Pastor Wood, Ashton, Ben, and Ben's children Tatiana and Liam. The congregation held a reception afterward...of course with cake!

In Our Schools

Redeemer, Verona, PA

The 5th and 6th graders at Redeemer Lutheran School went on their annual Lutherlyn trip! The students participated in outdoor environment education classes. They learned how to use a compass, collect and identify insects, catch and identify herbivores and omnivores from the stream, and also some group-building techniques! Most importantly, they observed and studied God’s creation up close and personal!
