English District Missions

Our desire in the English District is to see churches planted “from the bottom up, not from the top down.” The article "De-centralized Church Planting in the LCMS (and the English District)" from the Mission Action Team explains more. Click here to read the full article.

Finally, a Mothers Day prayer from the LCMS Prayer of the Church for this Sunday:

Father in heaven, You have given us a mirror of Your love in the vocation of mothers who nurture, guide, and raise their children in all things good. Bless them in their calling. Sustain them through weary and difficult times. Remember in compassion all who are barren, and bring them comfort through the children of your Church. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Statement on Unsanctioned MDiv Programs

Concerned members of LCMS congregations have been asking, “What does Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne (CTSFW), think about the two online MDiv programs that some in our Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) have been promoting?”

Find CTSFW's response here.

Life Together As Synod

Prayer Requests

We ask for God to provide respite and peace for those who are caregivers in any capacity.

In Our Churches

Ascension of Christ, Beverly Hills, MI

The eternal joys of Easter continue to be celebrated at Ascension of Christ Lutheran Church. Two milestone events happened on the Third Sunday of Easter. The Baptism of Marvin John (less than a week old). And the Confirmation of two outstanding 8th graders. What a joy-filled day. Alleluia!

Calvary, Mechanicsburg, PA

The LWML Philadelphia Zone Spring Rally was held at Calvary Lutheran Church on Saturday, May 3, 2025. In-gathering donations were brought to create Cleaning Buckets for disaster relief.

Grace, Redford, MI

On Sunday, May 4, 2025, Benjamin (left) and Orrin (right), from Grace Lutheran Church, confirmed their baptismal faith and received their First Communion. Rev. Timothy Halboth stands with these two young men whose great-grandmother is a distant relation to C. F. W. Walther. She was present at the worship service. This is a large and faithful Lutheran/Christian family.

Shepherd of the Mountains, Pinetop, AZ

Every few months, Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Church plans a fun outing. For the month of April, fourteen hardy souls donned their hiking boots and visited the Petrified Forest and the Painted Desert National Park, just an hour from their communities. They hiked the beautiful trail system within the park, viewing petrified trees, petroglyphs and Native American ruins.

Please share the information from Servant to Servant with members of your congregation.

Thanks for spreading the word!

Please share the unique ministries of your school or congregation with the rest of the English District. Send pictures and stories for consideration to llinthicum@englishdistrict.org by Wednesday at 12:00 noon ET.

We want to see how YOUR congregation or school is showing the love of God to those in your community and around the world.
