| | Papyrus Collection Tour Opportunity | | | |
Participants and guests of the District Convention are cordially invited to tour the Papyrus Collection at the University of Michigan Library in Ann Arbor at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25. The collection includes 30 leaves of the P46 codex, one of the oldest surviving New Testament manuscripts in Greek, dating from approximately A.D. 200. The tour will be conducted by Dr. Brendan Haug, the collection archivist, who will provide insights into P46 and other early Christian documents. If you would like to attend or for further information, email Pastor Martin Erhardt, pastor of the Lutheran Church of the Messiah.

Connect to Disciple guides congregations through the process of building awareness for the church, creating connections with people in the community, nurturing and deepening those relationships through shared activities, and then “making disciples.” This last work is the proper work of the Holy Spirit. We can take part in this process by bringing people to the Means of Grace and bringing the Means of Grace to people. Rev. Dr. Heath Trampe and Rev. Derek Mathers, Mission Executive to the English District, discuss outreach in today’s church, easy ways for congregations to be more connected to the community around them, and the importance of intentionality. | | Congregations Needed for Pilot Project | | | |
In September, the LCMS will launch a program designed to help congregational lay leaders create a supportive and caring environment that will improve the well-being of those who serve the church. LCMS Worker Wellness is asking for congregations that are interested in participating in this pilot project to fill out the questions by July 15. More information will be provided in August.
Healthy church workers carry out their vocations with more energy and joy. When the church supports its workers, the whole Body of Christ is blessed. As Christ has promised: “As you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me” (Matt. 25:40).

Faith, Arlington Heights, IL
Each year, the congregation of Faith Lutheran Church hosts a Father's Day Ice Cream Sundae Sunday Social. This year, participants had vanilla, chocolate, cookies and cream ice cream, and rainbow sherbet to choose from. Fellowship leaders Rich and Sue Poppert organized the event to honor fathers and father figures. The event was enjoyed by all, including the youngest members of the congregation.

Peace, Palm Desert, CA
Holy Trinity Sunday was extra special at Peace Lutheran Church of the Desert. The congregation has been blessed with a new family and Pastor James welcomed Franklin and Christopher through the waters of baptism. Members enjoyed a time of fellowship afterwards to celebrate the baptism and also acknowledge recent 2025 graduates.
The congregation also celebrated their dear dads with Dad's Root Beer and popcorn. God is working at Peace Lutheran Church. All glory to God!

Prince of Peace, Mesquite, NV
Members of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church recently participated in the Sun City Mesquite's Non-Profit Expo. They shared the Gospel using the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church bifold brochure that lists all the worship and fellowship opportunities offered on Sundays and throughout the week. They also promoted their Vacation Bible School program and other opportunities for community youth and their families to experience the love of Christ Jesus.
| | Biblical Archaeology Lecture | | | |
The second annual "These Stones Will Shout" lecture in biblical archaeology will explore the rich intersection of Scripture, history and archaeology at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 9, in Werner Auditorium on the campus of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. This year’s lecture, titled “Judah in the Time of David,” will be presented by Dr. Yosef Garfinkel, the Yigael Yadin Professor of Archaeology of the Land of Israel at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s Institute of Archaeology. Garfinkel will delve into the archaeological and historical evidence surrounding the emergence of the Kingdom of Judah, shedding new light on the era of David and Solomon.
