The Rev. Alexander J. Blanken (Nebraska District) has received a Divine Call to serve as Associate Pastor of Advent, Zionsville, IN.
The Rev. Jonathan C. McCall has received a Divine Call to serve as Sole Pastor of Trinity, Tryon, NC (Southeastern District).
The Rev. Matthew J. Montgomery (Indiana District) has received a Divine Call to serve as Sole Pastor of St. Mark, Janesville, WI.

"Medical Aid in Dying (MAiD) is legal in a number of the jurisdictions served by our English District congregations, and even in those in which it is not legal, it is merely a referendum and/or a few votes in the legislature away from legalization. Simply and sadly put, no jurisdiction is immune from this. Advocates for MAiD tout it as a compassionate means to end suffering, but is that really the case? From the perspective of Scripture and our Lutheran Confessions, clearly not..."

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9 (ESV)
What a profoundly sweet declaration this verse is! What could be more vital to receive, hear, and believe! And exactly where in this world can one obtain such an assurance? Only in a church that holds true the gifts of confession and absolution that are found in the Divine Service of Word and Sacrament. Such a place is supported by our Mission 1-1-1 dollars.
As we know, none of these promises are possible except through Christ’s blood sacrifice given in exchange for our sinfulness and uncleanness. It is a timeless message that needs to be heard by believers, nonbelievers, and skeptics alike, all of whom are served in our mission field. As Jesus says in John 10:10, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
We encourage you to share this message with those who may not have electronic access to our weekly message. If you are reading this, and your church has yet to participate in Mission 1-1-1, the message below is for you.

Faith, Arlington Heights, IL
Pastor Travis Schmidt and members of Faith Lutheran Church celebrated the 4th of July by highlighting a few of its ministries during the Frontier Days Parade. Members distributed mini Jesus figurines, water bottles, and candy to a crowd of more than 20,000. The congregation gave special acknowledgement to Jim and Carol Vyhanek, Jennifer Schmidt, and Susan and Rich Poppert for creating a wonderful float that welcomed Pastor Schmidt, as well as to Sean Poppert of Poetic Installations for towing it.

Redeemer, Sarnia, ON
The Baptism of Lucas, son of Michael and Sam, into the family of God took place at Redeemer Lutheran Church on the congregation’s 91st anniversary. Gathered with little Lucas are his grandparents and uncles, and Rev. Dr. Roger Ellis, who serves the congregation. Pastor Ellis baptized Lucas’s dad, Michael, 32 years ago!

Messiah, Danville, CA
Pastor Kevin Belter and members of Messiah Lutheran Church took part in Danville’s July 4th parade. Several members wore patriotic costumes, handing out candy to children and sharing information about the congregation with adults.
