"Seek the Lord while He may be found; call upon him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that He may have compassion on him, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.” Isaiah 55:6-7 (ESV)
Does this verse call to mind anything…or anywhere? It sounds a lot like church. All of the critical elements of a Divine Service, with invocation, confession, absolution, Word and sacrament, all in the Divine Service of sinners in need of forgiveness and reconciliation, which comes no other way in no other place. Such a place is each of our mission plants.
This is what our Mission 1-1-1 dollars support for those who are otherwise unchurched or underserved. Let’s finish strong with our 2025-26 campaign, which ends August 31. We read in Isaiah 55:11, “…so shall my Word be that goes out from my mouth. It shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.”

Pastor Larry Loree and members of Ascension of Christ Lutheran Church welcomed the newest addition to their church family, Matthew, the son of AoC Director of Parish Music, Emma and her husband Timothy. It was a wonderful blessing that Grandpa James Leistico (pastor at Peace Lutheran Church, Windsor, ON) was able to attend and perform the Baptism.

The 2026 Good Shepherd Institute will gather under the theme "Our Living Heritage," giving thanks for—and learning from—those who continue to inform the church and her practice.
This year’s conference will be held November 8-10 and pays tribute to figures including Walter Buszin, Norman Nagel, and Kenneth Korby, along with nineteenth- and twentieth-century LCMS church musicians who raised the bar for parish music and music education.
