1-1-1 for Missions
St. Mark, Sheboygan, WI
Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good…
Psalm 107:1

For the people of Saint Mark Lutheran Church, they know how true those words are as this year they celebrate their 110 th anniversary. That’s why it has been such a joy this year to watch them faithfully continue to support the 1-1-1 program like so many of our sister churches throughout our English District. Over these past six months not a Sunday or Thursday night passes without the people putting in their weekly contribution as they leave the Lord’s House. Furthermore, on those rare occasions when the pastor forgets to put the box out (imagine that happening?), never fear, there are enough members asking about its whereabouts.
Prayer Requests
Your prayer concerns are important to the English District. When you submit a prayer request, it will be posted in this weekly eNewsletter. The Bible's promise is true: "If we ask anything according to his will, he hears us" (1 John 5:14). Please email  Holly Scheer  with your prayer requests.

Trinity Lutheran Church, Las Vegas, NV
Rev. Todd Arnold, Western Region Vice President, represented the English District on behalf of Bishop/President Hardy at the closing service for Trinity, Las Vegas, NV. Rev. Gary Oehlerts, who has served the congregation since its inception eight years ago, served as liturgist and officiated the final communion service. Rev. Arnold preached “A Day of Ends and Beginnings” based on Rev. 1:17b-18 and Genesis 12:1-3.

About 70 members and friends attended the service. During the closing service Congregational President Al Bentley turned over the records, Treasurer Mike Jahn read a brief history of the congregation, and altar guild members removed paraments and vessels from the altar for the final time. Rev. Oehlerts also shared some emotional closing words.
