1-1-1 for Missions
Tree of Life, Inverness, FL
We have been involved in 1-1-1 from the beginning and our first quarterly (actually about 14 weeks) contribution was $212. This past quarter we collected $191. It may not seem like much, but during the summer with an average of around 20 people in church per Sunday, that's probably 100%. Fortunately, we have been at 100% since we began the program. We will continue and with Pastor Steinke at the helm, we hope to increase our membership.

This is actually a slow time of the year, since some of our members are "snowbirds" and are gone until the fall.
Here is a photo of Sue, a member of Tree of Life, putting her weekly contribution into our 1-1-1 box.

" There is power and strength in many giving a little."

Prayer Requests
Your prayer concerns are important to the English District. When you submit a prayer request, it will be posted in this weekly eNewsletter. The Bible's promise is true: "If we ask anything according to his will, he hears us" (1 John 5:14).

Please email  Holly Scheer  with your prayer requests.
In Our Churches
Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Mesquite, NV
Prince of Peace Lutheran Church is blessed to have as a member retired Pastor James Murray. His family traveled from around the country to help him celebrate his 90th birthday with the congregation! Pastor Murray may be retired, but he still fills in when needed at Prince of Peace and other area churches!
Prince of Peace was blessed to receive three new members recently. Pictured with Pastor Travis Lauterbach are Ron and Carri and Marion. Welcome to the family of saints!

Middle School Jerusalem Breakfast: What goes into this breakfast? On Sunday morning, Teacher Deb Geisler, prepares the following: cooked barley loaf, 16 flat breads, fried fish, and chicken cooked with onions & garlic in olive oil. In addition to those items also being served will be almonds, pistachios, watermelon & cantaloupe (melons), cucumbers in vinegar, figs, dates, raisins, grapes, cheese curds, honey with honeycomb, and of course non-alcoholic sparkling grape juice (that's their favorite).
As they enjoy the food, the youth share a story from the Bible that mentions each of these foods. Deb has a real passion for middle school youth and putting on this breakfast. To set the scene, Deb creates a low table by using the long cushions from the couches and some big boxy low chairs from the youth room. Then she lays a plastic folding table on top. Youth sit on pillow cushions from the couches.
