1-1-1 for Missions
Project: Dominican Republic Lutheran Mission
The Dominican Republic Lutheran Mission (DRLM) is now 12 years old. Five missions have been planted in Santo Domingo and Santiago, which are the two largest cities, and five more are planned. Two Lutheran schools are functioning alongside those mission churches, with a growing number of students.
Concordia the Reformer Seminary was established in the Dominican Republic in 2017 in order to raise up a new generation of Dominicans and other Latinos who might serve their church as pastors and deaconesses. The first graduating class, eight men from four countries, is beginning to serve across Latin America as pastors. One of those men, Yban Navarro, a Dominican, will bring the total number of Dominican pastors to three.
In June of this year, a program was implemented to provide continuing theological education for teachers through our seminary. In addition, twenty Dominican women are preparing to be deaconesses through the seminary’s deaconess program. The deaconess students are already serving people in and around local missions, through visitation, acts of mercy, and prayer.

Please contact our District Mission Executive, Pastor  Derek Mathers   or
Pastor  Justin Laughridge , Chair of the Missions Council, with any questions.
Please be aware of a scam that is affecting English District pastors in Wisconsin, Ohio and other clergy. Someone is compromising church and pastor’s accounts to access their contacts. An email or text message is sent using the pastor or church name (but with a different email/phone number) asking people to buy eBay or other gift cards as a fundraiser to help a patient or familiar charity.
Please never follow someone’s instructions to purchase gift cards and send the PIN# by voice, text or any other means of communication without checking directly with the person you supposedly receive the written request from. (Do not reply to the email or message you received to confirm. Start a new text or email to the person requesting the funds.)

Please email  Holly Scheer  with your prayer requests.
In Our Churches
Saint Mark Lutheran Church, Janesville, WI

Saint Mark welcomes baby Carter Edward to the family of God through the waters of Holy Baptism.
Saint Mark supports LCMS missionary Cindy Zirbel Wrucke. After 18 months in the Czech Republic, she returned to the states to share what God is doing in the Eurasia area. Her home congregation in the Czech Republic is St. Michael's, and as a gift from them to St Mark for supporting Cindy, a plate with Luther's Seal and the words "A Mighty Fortress is Our God" written in English and Czech was presented this past weekend. After a short time in the states, Cindy will head back to the Czech Republic for another three years. What a blessing she is and the work God is doing through her to break down the atheistic barrier there! (80% of Czech declares atheism, 5% agnostic, and only 5% Christian).
Grace Lutheran Church, Mitchell, ON
On August 18, at Grace Cafe (fellowship after the worship service), Grace Lutheran congregation celebrated Pastor Ted Radke's 50th Anniversary of his ordination.

The children of Calvary Lutheran Church, under the direction of Choir Director Elsa Quanbeck, attended a choir camp at the church. The theme was the Venite. Adult volunteers helped the older youth make a banner as a reminder of the things we all can do in worship. The children learned how to sing and play music with some fun techniques. The camp was well attended and the church looks forward to next year’s camp!
