1-1-1 Dollar for Missions

When you give 1 dollar per week to the Mission 1-1-1 box at your church, to what are you giving? In what are you participating?

Just as we have heard when so many questions are asked at church services, Sunday schools, and vacation Bible schools, the children can ring out with the answer: JESUS!

Jesus is the Answer

I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6

Jesus has the answer.

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.Matthew 28:19-20

We have our motivation…and our co-mission with Jesus in Mission 1-1-1! For more information on 1-1-1 Dollar for Missions, click here.

Is the Lord calling you to serve in Africa? LCMS International Mission is looking for people from all walks of life to join our team as volunteer coordinators, business managers, theological educators, and more. To help you discern, consider joining the Missionary Formation Trip, November 4-14, 2025, to explore ongoing international mission work in Kenya & Tanzania and prayerfully consider the opportunities to serve. To make it accessible to potential missionary candidates, the total cost for both ground expenses and airfare is $1,000. If this is of interest to you, please apply today – the deadline to start the application process is August 17th. Please also feel free to share this opportunity with any LCMS folks you know who might make good missionaries.

Nicaea Then and Now: Join the Conversation

2025 Theological Symposium Sept. 16-17

For 1,700 years, the Council of Nicaea has shaped Christian orthodoxy, offering a model for doctrine, discipline and relations between churches. Lutherans have long valued its insights, which remain relevant today. This symposium seeks to answer questions such as "How does a Christian not only recite but also live out the Creed?" and "How does Nicaea provide a framework for dealing with issues the church faces today?" Register now and be part of the conversation!

Lutheran Bible Translators

7,000+ languages are spoken in the world, but only 750 languages have the full Bible. Help raise awareness as a church advocate for Bible translation ministry.

Host a Bible Translation Sunday at your church to advocate for the mission of Lutheran Bible Translators. Engage your church with a call to action by inviting individuals and families to contribute $35 monthly to translate one verse of Scripture until the work is done (or set a total goal for your church). It’s a simple yet powerful way to gather in prayer, inspire generosity, and make a huge impact, translating entire chapters and books of the Bible. Join us in this mission to let the world know, “God speaks your language.” Ready to make a difference? Click here to take the next steps.

Please share the information from Servant to Servant with members of your congregation.

  • All are invited to subscribe to this weekly publication.
  • Forward the newsletter to members of your church.
  • They can subscribe by clicking on the "Sign up for our emails" link at the bottom.

Thanks for spreading the word!

Please share the unique ministries of your school or congregation with the rest of the English District. Send pictures and stories for consideration to llinthicum@englishdistrict.org by Wednesday at 12:00 noon ET.

We want to see how YOUR congregation or school is showing the love of God to those in your community and around the world.
