CALL TO CONFESSION

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Holy Triune God,

In baptism you gave us the Holy Spirit

to teach and guide us;

but we rely on ourselves,

and refuse to trust your direction.

In baptism you joined us to Christ in his death

that we might be raised with Christ in new life;

but we cherish old ways

and fail to embrace the risen life

of righteousness, justice, and love.

Remember the promises you made to us in our baptism,

forgive our sinful ways

and heal our brokenness.

Set us free from all that enslaves us,

and raise us to new life in Jesus Christ,

that we may be your faithful servants,

showing forth your healing love to the world,

to the glory of your holy name. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF GRACE

Anyone who is in Christ

is a new creation.

The old life has gone;

a new life has begun.

I declare to you in the name of Jesus Christ,

you are forgiven. Thanks be to God.

*GLORIA: GtG 582

Glory to God, Whose Goodness Shines on Me

Glory to God, whose goodness shines on me,

and to the Son, whose grace has pardoned me,

And to the Spirit, whose love has set me free.

As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be. Amen.

World without end, without end. Amen.

World without end, without end. Amen.

World without end, without end. Amen.

As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be. Amen.

TIME WITH YOUNG DISCIPLES

BAPTISM

Karina James Sabella

Child of Nikki (Goodman) Sabella and Mark Sabella

PRESENTATION

…As many of you as were baptized into Christ

have clothed yourselves with Christ.

There is no longer Jew or Greek,

there is no longer slave or free,

there is no longer male and female;

for all are one in Christ Jesus.

QUESTIONS FOR THE CONGREGATION

Do you, as members of the church of Jesus Christ,

promise to guide and nurture Karina

by word and deed, with love and prayer? We do.

Will you encourage her to know and follow Christ

and to be a faithful member of her church? We will.

PROFESSION OF FAITH

*HYMN (APOSTLE’S CREED): GtG 481

I Believe in God the Father

I believe in God the Father,

merciful and mighty Lord,

maker of the earth and heavens,

whom we worship and adore;

And in Jesus Christ the Son,

only Savior, sovereign one,

by the Holy Spirit given,

born of Mary, blessed virgin.

Under Pilate, Jesus suffered,

faithful to his final breath.

He was crucified and buried,

and descended into death.

From the grave he did arise;

he ascended through the skies;

now enthroned with God in heaven,

he will judge the dead and living.

I believe in God the Spirit,

and the church in every place;

saints in glorious communion,

all forgiven, full of grace;

Flesh and blood will live again;

life in Christ will never end.

Holy Spirit, Son and Father:

I will praise your name forever.

DECLARATION

THE BAPTISM

LAYING ON OF HANDS AND ANOINTING

… Karina James, child of the covenant,

you have been sealed by the Holy Spirit in baptism and marked as Christ’s own forever. Amen.

God who began a good work in you

will bring it to completion

by the day of Jesus Christ. Amen.

WELCOME

Karina James, you have been received

into the one holy catholic and apostolic church

through Baptism.

By the power of the Holy Spirit,

you have become a member of the household of God,

to share with us in the ministry of Christ

and the priesthood of all believers.

With joy and thanksgiving, we welcome you

into the body of Christ. Alleluia! Amen!

Live as a child of the light and let your light shine before others. Amen.

THE PEACE

May mercy, peace, and love be yours in abundance. The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. And also with you.

The people may exchange signs of God’s peace,

greeting those who have been baptized.

The blessing of God Almighty—

clothe yourselves with compassion,

kindness, humility, and patience.

Forgive one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you.

And above all these things, put on love,

which binds everything together

in perfect harmony. Amen.
