CALL TO CONFESSION

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Holy God,

it is easy to confess with our lips

that you are Lord,

but it is much harder to believe with our hearts,

to live in a way that puts you first.

We are quick to trust in idols.

We depend on what we can see, touch, and control,

instead of waiting to hear your still, small voice.

Forgive us, Lord, and help our unbelief,

so that what we confess with our lips

we may truly believe in our hearts. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF GRACE

Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

There are no prerequisites, no disqualifications,

no exceptions.

We are saved,

we are forgiven,

we are freed!

Hallelujah!

*GLORIA: GtG 582

Glory to God, Whose Goodness Shines on Me

Glory to God, whose goodness shines on me,

and to the Son, whose grace has pardoned me,

And to the Spirit, whose love has set me free.

As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be. Amen.

World without end, without end. Amen.

World without end, without end. Amen.

World without end, without end. Amen.

As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be. Amen.

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (From A Brief Statement of Faith)

We trust in God the Holy Spirit,

everywhere the giver and renewer of life.

The Spirit justifies us by grace through faith,

sets us free to accept ourselves

and to love God and neighbor,

and binds us together with all believers

in the one body of Christ, the Church.

The same Spirit who inspired the prophets and apostles

rules our faith and life in Christ through Scripture,

engages us through the Word proclaimed,

claims us in the waters of baptism,

feeds us with the bread of life and the cup of salvation,

and calls women and men to all ministries of the Church.

SHARING JOYS AND CONCERNS

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

Let us pray in the Spirit, who helps us in our weakness,

interceding with sighs too deep for words.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

In the Spirit, we pray for the church . . .

…Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

In the Spirit, we pray for the earth . . .

…Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

In the Spirit, we pray for all nations . . .

…Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

In the Spirit, we pray for this community . . .

…Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

In the Spirit, we pray for loved ones . . .

…Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

In the Spirit, we pray to you, O God, confident that all things work together for good for those who love you and are called according to your purpose.

Above all, we give you thanks, O God, that nothing can separate us from your love in Christ Jesus our Lord, who taught us to pray….

LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING/DEDICATION

We give thanks to you, O Lord, for your sustaining presence and abundant grace. Receive now these gifts we bring to you out of your generous provision for our lives. May they be used to satisfy the hungry in famine, relieve the oppressed in time of trouble, and proclaim everywhere the good news of your Son. In whose name we pray. Amen.

*CHARGE/BENEDICTION

The word of faith is near you, on your lips and in your heart.

How shall others hear unless you proclaim it?

Go now in generous grace and favor of our God.

How beautiful are the feet of you who bring good news!

And may the generous blessing and favor of our loving, abundant God lift you, sustain you, and send you to the world with the gift of life! Amen!
