From the Pastor's Desk
Service to the Larger Church
This past Sunday we commissioned two members of our congregation to serve as commissioners to the 227th General Assembly in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Arden Weiser will serve as a Youth Advisory Delegate and Miriam Hollar will serve as Commissioner and as the Chair of the Constitutional Interpretation Committee.
| | | General Assembly takes place June 22-26. We look forward to hearing from Arden and Miriam about their experiences and grateful that they will be representing St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church in their work and service to the larger church. | | | In addition, Chris Hazlaris, Director of Youth and Young Adults, has been invited to be the keynote speaker at the Summit46 middle school conference at Mo-Ranch Conference Center June 16-19. We are excited for Chris and the impact he will have on youth participating in this summer conference. | | | Church member Christina Carlisle, who has worked for many years at the pottery center at Montreat, has been named the co-director of the Sally Jones Pottery Center and will be responsible for hiring and managing summer staff and the Artists in Residence program at the center. | | | In addition, for the last year, Michele Murphy has served as head of the South Central Region of the Association of Presbyterian Church Educators and helped plan their annual conference this past fall at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. | | | |
Thanks to all in our congregation, through Presbyterian Women, community partnerships, or the work of the Presbytery, who are using their time and talents to serve the larger church and to raise the profile of St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian as a place where good ministry is happening.
-Chris Currie, Senior Pastor
