Making it Count...
For the men of Project Cornerstone learning such life skills as handling money is key to building self-sufficiency and self-determination. As we address core causes of homelessness and eliminate barriers to employment and permanent housing, our guests take on classes to help foster a new mindset and gain lifelong skills and tools.
“Knowledge is the key piece” said Alisa Dunn, Financial Wellbeing Coach at Operation Hope. Dunn visits Samaritan every month to discuss financial literacy amongst the Cornerstone men. Offering one-on one sessions, Dunn discusses how to manage money, build credit, and how to maintain financial freedom.
Kenneth Koontz, Project Cornerstone Supportive Services Counselor describes the financial sessions as an essential need for the men to practice in order to transition back into societal norms. “A lot of the men who enter the program have no financial means or reserves. It’s important for the guys to gain some insight onto how to manage their financial resources.” – K. Koontz
Providing resources gives a sense of hope and new beginnings. We are grateful for our community collaborations to help support the overall wellbeing of our guests.
Together, we can make a difference in lives of our brothers and sisters in need.
“Now he who supplies seed to the Sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.” – 2 Corinthians 9:10
