Today, I led my California Republican colleagues in writing a letter to California State Board of Education President Dr. Linda Darling-Hammond with concerns regarding the proposed mathematics framework under review by the Board.

The proposed framework advises California schools to phase out the option for students to enter advanced math classes and requires all students to study math at the same level through the high school sophomore level. This one-size-fits-all model hurts students – of all backgrounds – and our global competitiveness, especially as we recover from COVID-19 and students have fallen behind in school proficiency. We must empower students to excel in education and reject proposals that limit student growth. As a member of the Problem Solvers Caucus Infrastructure Working Group, I have been working closely with my colleagues to create a bipartisan plan to address our needs and improve important projects such as the 57/60 Confluence.

This is the right moment to come together and fix our crumbling infrastructure. I am encouraged that a bipartisan deal has been reached between the Senate and the White House, and hopeful that the chance for bipartisanship will not be used as a bargaining chip for a bloated partisan package that increases spending on unrelated priorities and raises taxes on California workers and families. I stand with the people of Cuba in their fight for democracy, freedom, human rights and basic resources as they peacefully protest against the brutal oppression by the Castro regime.

This week, I signed on two resolutions from Rep. Diaz-Balart and Rep. Maliotakis calling for respect for the basic rights of Cubans and recognition of the failings of communism.

It was a pleasure to tour OCFA Station 41 and discuss their efforts to keep our community safe from wildfires. Station 41 functions as a regular fire station and was one of the first in the nation to do night firefighting. They also aid neighboring counties who may require rescue services. I am proud to support them and grateful for their incredible service to our community!

American workers and families continue to see higher prices everywhere from the grocery store to the gas pump. Unfortunately, instead of working across the aisle to address inflation, get Americans back to work and support small businesses, Senate Democrats are rushing to spend trillions on a partisan wishlist.

Let's hit the brakes on unnecessary federal spending that will lead to higher debt, inflation and ultimately more money out of taxpayers' pockets.

I encourage all of our middle and high school students across the district to challenge their STEM abilities by participating in this year’s CA-39 Congressional App Challenge!

It is never too late to learn to code. In fact, last year nearly half of the students who entered the App Challenge described themselves as beginners before the challenge.

My team was glad to attend the ground breaking ceremony at the location for the new Mt. SAC student center and transportation center! The student center will be a multi-cultural, multi-purpose place for students and the surrounding community to gather. The new transit center is in partnership with Foothill Transit and will use their new, electric double-decker for commuter students. I'm excited to see progress on this project!
