Each year, congregations across the ELCA join together for God’s work. Our hands. Sunday, a dedicated day of service highlighting our shared commitment to love and serve our neighbors. It’s more than a single event; it’s a chance for the church to be present in our communities in visible, joyful, and impactful ways.

The ELCA provides toolkits, worship materials, and planning guides to support your congregation. Access the resources, HERE.

Project ideas include food and clothing drives, community clean-ups, visits to nursing homes, creating care kits for shelters, or hosting intergenerational service events that bring your members together in action.

Calling all Retired Clergy in the territory of MNYS!

Clergy who have served so faithfully in the church for many years and move toward retired status are cherished and valued in our Synod. We are putting together an updated roster of our retired clergy and want to make sure everyone is included. If you are a retired pastor who has moved to the territory of the Metropolitan New York Synod and want to be included in upcoming events and correspondence, please reach out to Rev. Dr. Elise Brown at ebrown@mnys.org to be included in our roster. We are planning some special events for this fall and spring. Please watch for them!

The Rev. Dr. J. Elise Brown serves as Chief of Staff at the Metropolitan New York Synod, providing leadership and coordination for the Bishop’s office and synod-wide initiatives. Her work ensures that the mission and ministry of MNYS are carried out with clarity, care, and efficiency.
