Session Decision on Reopening for Sanctuary Worship

Dear Park Hill Presbyterian and Friends,

This past Sunday your Session met, and with prayerful deliberation about improved pandemic conditions, determined we will reopen for sanctuary worship every-other Sunday starting in March.

Our reopening will utilize the same precautions we developed in the fall, with an eye towards a gradual cessation of safeguards as conditions eventually merit. These safety measures include:

  • Mandatory well-fitting masks over the mouth and nose.

  • Worship every-other Sunday to limit potential spread

  • Limited assigned seating (50) with social distancing and reservations recommended.

  • Refraining from singing and group speaking.

  • Temperature checks and hand sanitizing available at the sign in desk.

  • Online live streaming of worship; a link to the service will continue to be available for those not joining us in person.

We will also have an eye towards the experience of children and families. Although childcare is not yet available in the nursery, children are always welcome in worship—giggles and wiggles included! Your reservation helps us craft a worship bag specific to your child’s interests, complete with activities for hands and hearts, and with permission, small snacks for little mouths. Your child is not too noisy! We are too quiet without the presence of children, and we will gladly adapt to accommodate your family. Please ask if you think something specific might help your family rejoin us in person, or stay engaged online. We want to hear from you.

You may also notice other slight changes to the service developed with pandemic safety measures or the online worshipping community in mind. Please speak with the elder for Worship, Tamara Boggs, or Pastor Marie if you have any questions about changes and our plan to reintroduce elements in the future.

We are now taking reservations for worship in the sanctuary on March 7 and 21. If you were a regular attendee prior to December, we have retained your reservation and only need to confirm your spot. Please call the office at 501-753-9533 and leave a message, or email to secure your spot—you may also reserve online using SignUp Genius by clicking here or on the purple button below.

As we are unsure of how many will want to participate now that vaccines are available, we strongly encourage you to make your reservation soon in case we need to consider a second service or alternate seating. Session will continue to keep the changing needs of worship in mind as a matter of ongoing business.

Blessings upon your week, and we hope to see you in worship—online or in person—soon!
