Washington State Board of Education
Weekly Update | March 9
Legislative Session Recap: March so far

Recently, the focus has been on floor action and budget negotiations and last week's Opposite House Cutoff (the deadline by when bills must be passed out of the second house). Bills that did not pass are considered “dead” unless they are revived as “Necessary to Implement the Budget” (NTIB).

Upcoming Meeting: Tacoma, March 11-12

The State Board of Education, with guidance from the Governor's Office about non-essential meetings with 10 or more people, has decided to cancel the March 10 forum scheduled to discuss social emotional learning and academic student support.

Beyond the forum, SBE will hold the regular Board Meeting at the Tacoma Public Schools Professional Development Center. SBE is prepared to accommodate public comment virtually via ZOOM during this March 11-12 meeting . Follow SBE on Twitter during the meeting to see the live link.

If this situation changes, SBE will update its web and social media sites ASAP.
