In December the E&E family celebrated with a Western themed holiday party. Say "howdi" to Helen (June) Malone. She is the friendly and helpful voice our customers hear when they call E&E and she is an integral part of our Accounting Dept. June has been in the E&E family since May 2008.

She greets every visitor and caller with a smile in her voice and a positive attitude. It is amazing how infectious a smile and cheerful demeanor can be in the business world.

In 2017, a positive attitude, enthusiastic approach and an optimistic disposition are important as you set the tone for a new year. 

We need to shake off all of 2016 and look to the new year for exciting opportunities in our business. 

Famed philosopher and physician Albert Schweitzer once put it, "Example is not the main thing in influencing others; it is the only thing."

Your employees will take their cue from you - so here are a few tips for setting that positive tone in 2017:

Establish an impeccable standard of excellence.
Set high expectations at the outset and raise the bar on any crucial factors. The best way to establish a standard is by modeling the expected behavior yourself. Showcase excellence. When your actions have the potential to affect everyone around you and the bottom line, don't dabble in mediocrity. Reflecting excellence is critical to exercising effective leadership. This is ground zero for establishing influence. (Entrepreneur)

Create solutions. Don't dwell on problems; instead be the first to offer solutions and then ask your team for more. (Soulcraft).

Get your hands dirty. Do the work and know your trade. You don't have to be the most advanced technician on the team, but you must have an in-depth understanding of your industry and your business. Leaders have many responsibilities, but it is important to work alongside your team. This is a great way to build trust and continue to develop your own knowledge and skills. (Inc.)

Take time to make people feel special.
We all want to feel special. Take time to sincerely praise your employees for things that they do to advance your company or serve your customers. (Inc.com)

Check Your Attitude - A positive attitude is always key to your ability to be productive. No matter how daunting your work appears, a positive attitude can make all the difference. (Time Management Ninja).

 

Start with a clean slate. Finally, consider the opportunity of starting with a clean stale. New goals. New priorities. New customer approach. New Trade Show Displays. Yes, a new display is a great way to bring the positive energy of your company to consumers at your next trade show event.
