Dear brothers and sisters in our Lord Jesus, part of the growing repentance remnant, members of His flock, of which Jesus is the Shepherd (John 10:16), Jesus being the first to preach His gift of repentance (Matthew 4:17), now calling on each of us also to preach repentance (Luke 24:47).
There is a vital parallel between the attack on our persons and on our nations today and the attack King Jehoshaphat experienced years ago in Judah. Here's the Scripture:
Now it happened after this that the Moabites and the Ammonites, together with some of the Meunites, came to make war against Jehoshaphat. Then it was reported to Jehoshaphat, “A great multitude has come against you from beyond the [Dead] Sea, out of Aram (Syria); and behold, they are in Hazazon-tamar (that is, Engedi).” 3 Then Jehoshaphat was afraid and set himself [determinedly, as his vital need] to seek the Lord; and he proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. So [the people of] Judah gathered together to seek help from the Lord; indeed they came from all the cities of Judah to seek the Lord [longing for Him with all their heart]. ( 2 Chronicles 20: 1-4 amplified).
This approach, setting oneself to seek the Lord, matches David's inquiring of the Lord after the disaster at Ziklag (1 Samuel 30:8).
In each case the Lord had instructions that led to victory over the enemy. The battle becomes the Lord's.
But this is not just for kings! Whatever disaster may be facing you and me, the response after any first understandable human emotion of fear is to set yourself, focus on your indwelling Holy Spirit, and seek the LORD for His instructions. Then carry them out, giving Him all the glory.
As the Lord leads, please join me in this prayer: "Abba Father, in Jesus' Holy Name, please help me seek You for Your instructions in the face of what may look like a personal or national disaster. Please help me put You first, not my emotions. Strengthen my prayer time to call upon You in all situations. Help me then to obey Your instructions. I give You all the glory for the result. In Jesus' Holy Name, Amen and Amen."
