Go Behind-the-Scenes with Indio’s IT Department

Running a growing city effectively is no simple task. We must find opportunities to embrace new technology to better serve our residents and businesses today, tomorrow and into the future.

Our Information Technology (IT) Department supports nearly every aspect of an ambitious modernization program working in concert with all city departments. While much of our work occurs off stage, everyone can see the benefits. Over the past two years, the City has streamed City Council and Planning Commission meetings, as well as shifted to improve the online filing of forms and mobile operations for building inspectors.
Future projects promise even greater benefits, making a real difference in the community. For example, a Fiber Master Plan will evaluate current broadband infrastructure and make recommendations to expand high-speed internet service to underserved areas. A new EnerGov internet portal will provide convenient online access to licenses, permits and the status of pending applications. EnerGov will also add a 311 phone line to contact the City about non-emergency services and an app where residents can report concerns such as potholes and graffiti. A new website will act as a hub of information at our community's fingertips. These are only a few examples of the IT projects creating a more modern Indio.

The City of Indio IT Department plays a more significant role than simply protecting computers from hackers. Incorporating cutting-edge technology and streamlining government services ensures we can exceed expectations and save taxpayer dollars for generations to come, no applause needed.
