New in 2025 – Auto-enrollment is in!

Employer-sponsored retirement plans (like a SEP, 401(k) or 403(b)) established after December 29, 2024, must automatically enroll eligible employees, as part of the Secure 2.0 Act. Many Connecticut companies have already adopted auto-enrollment as a best practice, including MyCTSavings. Now, the law requires that employees opt-out if they do not want to participate. There are some exceptions: businesses less than three years old or with fewer than 10 employees may be exempt from this Secure 2.0 provision. For more information on the Secure 2.0 Act, go to: https://www.irs.gov
