Oh, the thinks you can think!

I hope you enjoy reading these updates from the Featherstone grape ranch as much as I enjoy writing them. In the immortal words of Dr Seuss “Words and pictures are yin and yang. Married, they produce a progeny more interesting than either parent.” It’s a great deal of fun to put pen to paper (yes, that is still how I do it) even in such a modest form and, as the good Dr says, “It is fun to have fun.”

…and we hope you will steer yourself in the direction of our Vineyard Veranda this summer. There are no green eggs and ham on the menu – only interesting, local cheeses and delicious deli meats and charcuterie. We hope you’ll come by for a glass of wine, a cheese board, some fresh baguette. “If you never did you should. These things are fun and fun is good.”
The Veranda is open for summer noshing on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holiday Mondays from 11:00 am- 4:00 pm up to, and including, Labour Day.

Oh, the places you’ll go
In June, we will be firing up our wood burning pizza oven and participating the region’s New Vintage Festival. I encourage you to buy a Discovery Pass, it is your ticket to wine and food pairings throughout Niagara.

Why fit in when you were born to stand out?
It was with these wise words from Dr Seuss in mind that we crafted a winery event that is unique in Canada- The Muddy Paws Wine Festival.
This Festival presents a unique opportunity to celebrate excellent wine and food in Niagara -- and to bring along your BFF (four-footed friends). You might wish that you had dog feet and I can tell you why.
On this weekend, Vineland Estates Winery and Featherstone Estate Winery will open their doors to well-behaved dogs on leash who wish to accompany their owners.
At Featherstone, wines will be available by the glass and the Jazz Trio 'MGM' will delight you all afternoon. For the four-legged visitors, fresh dog treats will be baked in our wood-fired pizza oven. National Service Dogs (NSD) will be visiting with their puppies in training and a portion of sales will be donated to NSD.
For the bipeds, Chef Patrick Engel will be serving his nearly world famous fried buttermilk chicken sandwiches as well as charcoal-grilled tacos with homemade black bean and corn salsa.
At Vineland Estates Winery, enjoy food, wine and live music under a tent. There will be a dog obedience trial by Dave McMahon’s Dog Training Academy and you will have the opportunity to meet the Regional Police K-9 unit in an innocent way.

Bark your calendars for July 9 & 10 from noon to 5:00 pm. Tickets are $20.00 + HST and provide access to the Festival areas at both wineries.
