DOROTHY MEETS ALICE or THE WIZARD OF WONDERLAND

CLOSING WEEKEND!

by Joseph Robinette

directed by Mike Jimena

ThroughSeptember 25

Saturdays & Sundays at 1:00 pm

Plus, September 23 & 24 at 7:00pm

Rated: General - Family Entertainment

This new play version of the delightful meeting of two of literature’s most famous young ladies unfolds when a young man puts off a book report till the last minute, then suddenly finds himself in a strange place somewhere between Oz and Wonderland. It then becomes his responsibility to unscramble the stories and steer the familiar characters—the Cowardly Lion, the Mad Hatter, the Scarecrow and the White Rabbit, among others—to their ultimate destinations while avoiding the Wicked Witch and the Red Queen. This hilarious, adventuresome romp is filled with laughter and surprises at every turn. And a couple of lessons emerge along the way as well.

WAY OUT WEST

A Fund Raiser for Sutter Street Theatre

As part of the Historic District's Wild West Fest on Saturday, September 24, Sutter Street Theatre will be presenting an original musical spoof written by Mike Jimena on old cowboy westerns. The show is narrated by the Bar Keep and features stories of cowboys of the old west on a day when the stagecoach happens to arrive in town on the same day as the wagon train comes through. Laugh out loud at a parody of 50s and 60s westerns. Two performances at 1:00pm and 4:00pm. Fun for the entire family.

FOR MATURE AUDIENCES

Evil Dead The Musical takes all the elements of the cult classic films, The Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, and Army of Darkness and combines them for one of the craziest, funniest, and bloodiest theatrical experiences of all time. Five college students go to an abandoned cabin in the woods, and accidentally unleash an evil force that turns them all into demons. It’s all up to Ash (a housewares employee, turned demon-killing hero), and his trusty chainsaw to save the day. Blood flies. Limbs are dismembered. Demons tell bad jokes… and all to music. You don’t need to be a fan of Evil Dead to love this show. You don’t need to be a fan of horror to love this show. You don’t even need to be a fan of musicals to love this show. As long as you like having fun… this show is for you. Plus, it’s the only show with a “Splatter Zone” – a section of the audience that gets covered in fake blood. And with this combination of blood, jokes, cheesy effects, and really awesome musical numbers, Evil Dead The Musical is unlike any live show you’ve ever seen.  JOIN US!!!!!

ANNE OF GREEN GABLES

Written by Joseph Robinette

Based on the book by Lucy M. Montgomery

Directed by Allen Schmeltz

October 8- October 30

Saturdays and Sundays at 1:00 PM

Rated: G

Green Gables is the home of lovable Matthew Cuthbert and his stern sister, Marilla. They agree to adopt a boy to help with the farm work. Imagine their consternation when Anne Shirley, a girl in her teens, is sent by the orphanage by mistake! Anne touches Matthew’s heart with her vivid imagination and her charitable viewpoint, but it takes time to reach the tender heart beneath Marilla’s hard exterior. Then there is young Josie Pye, a lad named Moody Spurgeon, and Matthew, Anne’s kindred spirit. This lovely classic is very simple to present and full of warmth and wit.

Baroness Frankenstein has opened her castle to all those who can’t cope with the outside world, including a descendant of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, a Medusa with snakes in her hair, Vampira, the Mummy, the mad Igor, a Phantom Bride and the Invisible Man. The castle belongs to an American society matron who sends monthly checks to pay for the staff she imagines is working at the castle. What to do? What else but have the creatures pose as servants. Mrs. Hoople arrives with her young niece and her husband to inspect the premises and discovers her gardener is Igor, the butler is a mummy, the cleaning woman is a vampire, and the Monster is stretched out on the dining table! The highlight takes place when a werewolf fights the Invisible Man in full view of the audience!
