Maryland Senate President Announces 2021 Session Operations Plan for COVID-19
Legislative Report #01 - November 6, 2020
Greetings!

We are poised for a Legislative Session which will be quite unlike anything we have experienced in our lifetimes.

Senate President Ferguson announced a plan for the Senate and a similar plan is expect to be announce soon by House Speaker Jones.

You should anticipate a "virtual session" where direct personal contact will be extremely limited. Now is a very good time to start honing your email communication skills.

Watch for a updated downloadable email address file when recent and future changes in the makeup of the General Assembly are resolved.
Stay safe and healthy!

2021 Senate Operations Plan
Maryland Senate Bill Ferguson recently announced his plan for Senate operations during the 2021 Session in light of the recent surge in COVID-19 cases.

Senate operations will be severely curtailed, with shorter floor sessions, limited hearings and testimony, including a very short list or proponents and opponents being permitted to testify on any given bill. Access to the buildings will be extremely limited.

The Senate will operate under three stages depending on the level of COVID-19 activity in the the legislature, staff and general public. As of this writing a formal report from the Senate has not been released. See the WTOP webpage for the story. This is a fluid situation so stay tuned for updates on the Senate and announcements from the House.

Maryland Gun Laws - 2019 Session Update
Each session of the Maryland General Assembly presents new challenges. Keeping the compiled user friendly version of Maryland's ever changing guns laws is one of them.

The new legislation which became law on October 1st of this year has been compiled and is now available in 2A Maryland's compilation of Maryland's gun laws.

Watch for updates on the Maryland Gun Laws. The Governor's veto of the bill to mandate background checks on the private sale of long guns is expected to be overridden early in the 2021 Session.
