Maryland Senate Bill Ferguson recently announced his plan for Senate operations during the 2021 Session in light of the recent surge in COVID-19 cases.
Senate operations will be severely curtailed, with shorter floor sessions, limited hearings and testimony, including a very short list or proponents and opponents being permitted to testify on any given bill. Access to the buildings will be extremely limited.
The Senate will operate under three stages depending on the level of COVID-19 activity in the the legislature, staff and general public. As of this writing a formal report from the Senate has not been released. See the WTOP webpage for the story. This is a fluid situation so stay tuned for updates on the Senate and announcements from the House.
