Good Morning -
As we navigate the weather events of this weekend, we wanted to provide some specifics for our residential students.
As noted in the Wake Alert announcement:
- Because of weather conditions caused by Hurricane Ian, the Reynolda and Charlotte campuses of Wake Forest will be closed from noon today (Sept. 30) through Sat., Oct. 1, at 5 p.m. in order to minimize travel to and from campus. This includes Wake Downtown and Brookstown.
- All Reynolda Campus undergraduate and graduate school classes have been canceled, regardless of modality, with the exception of the School of Law, which will move to online classes. Offices will be closed. Events and activities are canceled.
- Travel will be hazardous and should be minimized. Students should stay alert when walking on and around campus and avoid non-essential off-campus travel. High wind gusts, heavy rain, and flooding are expected.

Safety Tips During Severe Weather
- Keep all windows and doors closed to avoid flying debris or other hazards.
- Be sure to use caution any time during heavy rain, as flooding and or slick areas may exist.
- Pay attention to your surroundings. Avoid walking under tree limbs and power lines that may fall during high winds.
- It is good preparation to have a flashlight with fresh batteries in the event of a power outage.
- Stock up on non-perishables and water ahead of the storm in case you are unable to leave home for food.
- Plan to charge all your devices (phone, laptop, etc.) before the storm is projected to begin.
-
During a power outage, keep the refrigerator and freezer doors closed as much as possible. For further food safety guidance, please visit foodsafety.gov.
Should you have an emergency, please contact 911 or call University Police at 336-758-5911 for assistance.
For further details about campus services or operations, please refer to the Wake Alert website.
As always, the Office of Residence Life and Housing can be reached at 336-758-5185 or at housing@wfu.edu.
