Still Waters: Create Your Own Suminagashi Meditation Art
Registration begins Sunday, 4/27 at 12pm
Wednesday, May 21st at 10:30am
Join us for a calming and creative wellness workshop exploring suminagashi, the ancient Japanese art of “floating ink.” Dating back over 1,000 years, suminagashi (pronounced soo-mee-nah-gah-she) means “ink on water.” Practiced by Buddhist monks and artisans in 12th-century Japan, this mindful marbling technique invites us to embrace the flow of nature, impermanence, and the beauty of each moment.
Participants will gently float inks onto water and transfer their unique, swirling patterns to paper—no two prints are ever alike. As the colors expand and shift across the water’s surface, we’ll use this time to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with the present. Like meditation in motion, this art form encourages letting go of control and appreciating the process.
This is a free one-hour workshop, and all materials will be provided, while supplies last.
