Made for Love Podcast
Last month's Made for Love episodes were about incarceration: prison ministry and post-incarceration realities for families.
Catholic families suffer separation when one of their members is in prison. What is Catholic prison ministry all about? Today we'll talk with Bishop Wack from the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee, Bishop Cary of the Diocese of Baker, Fr. Dustin Feddon, of Joseph House, Fr. Michael Carson, who ministered in San Quentin, and Angela Burrin, who ministers at a Maryland women's prison.
When someone comes out of prison, what does the Church do to help them pick up their lives again? Today we'll talk with Bishop Wack from the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee and Fr. Dustin Feddon, of Joseph House, Angela Burrin, who ministers at a Maryland women's prison, and Lindsay Myers.

U.S. Supreme Court Oral Argument
On October 8, 2019, the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral argument about the meaning of "sex" in the nondiscrimination provisions of Title VII. The claim was that the provisions include "sexual orientation" and "gender identity."
Our colleague in the Religious Liberty office (Aaron Weldon) hosted a First Freedom podcast all about these cases. Listen to it here!

Legal/ Policy Updates
Indiana
- Shelly Fitzgerald, a former counselor at a Catholic high school who appeared on "Ellen" last year after her high-profile removal for being in a same-sex relationship,
sued the Archdiocese of Indianapolis
on October 21st. This is the second such suit by a former counselor of the school, and a third is potentially underway by a school social worker who showed public support for the first two.
Georgia -
In a grassroots success, the school district in Pickens County, Georgia,
postponed
creating an open bathroom policy after a public meeting on October 14th brought out a large crowd in opposition.
Texas - In a tragic, ongoing custody dispute in Texas involving the "gender transition" of a 7-year-old boy, a jury decided on October 21st to grant sole conservatorship to the mother, clearing the way for medical "transition," but three days later (amid public attention, including the governor's calling for an investigation), the judge
ruled
to grant joint conservatorship and decision-making to both parents.
