Dear Shabazz Community,

Welcome to March!

I am not sure we are seeing true signs of spring as we head deeper into the second half of the school year. Our students and staff continue to do amazing things every day, and I'm excited to see what comes of the last few months of the second semester.

I would like to recognize many of our students and staff for all their efforts in February to help us celebrate Black History Month as a school community. I'm also so proud of so many of our student leaders, for all of their efforts and leadership as well.

Please be mindful of the March Calendar. Our junior class will be taking the ACT on  Tuesday, March 3.  There will be no school for freshmen, sophomores, and seniors on that day. We have a spectacular breakfast planned for the morning prior to testing so please have your junior students come into the building between 8-8:30 am, hungry.  Thursday, March 5  is Parent/Teacher Conferences so there will be no school for students that day as well. I hope many of our families have taken the time to sign up for Conferences. and finally, MMSD Spring Break will be from  March 30 - April 3 with Monday April 6 as an Evaluation Day extending the break for students one more day .

As I have stated in earlier communications, strong engagement in schools begins with strong, trusting relationships among students, staff, and families. Our school vision is based on the belief that all students can be successful if they are well-understood and well-supported, and that's on all of us. Working together, we can make sure every single student is well-understood, well-supported, and truly connected to our school community.
We are Shabazz!

Thank you, as always, for your support and please let me know if you need anything.
