Dear Shabazz Community,

I hope everyone is staying warm with the temperatures starting to dip. I can't believe we are already heading into November and the completion of the first quarter.

As a reminder, the calendar is a bit unusual with the ending of the first quarter on Friday, November 1. There will be no school for students on Monday, November 4 so teachers can use this opportunity to write student evaluations. The evaluations provide students with individualized, detailed feedback alongside the report card of pass or no-credit. Evaluations are more intensive for the teaching staff, usually requiring a good deal more thought than traditional course grading. This process can inform students about how they mastered the course content, but also provided specific information about the demonstration of skills and strong points along with areas of growth. Our new quarter will start on Tuesday, November 5.

The Thanksgiving holiday will be here before we know it. Tuesday, November 26 will be our annual  Shabazz Day of Thanks  which will consist of students attending their academic classes periods 1-3 and then coming together as a large community for a potluck feast. The afternoon will lend itself to community-building activities and lots of fun. There will be no school for students on Wednesday, November 27 through Friday, November 29.

Thanks again for all your support.
