There are many way that we can express our solidarity with and support for Israel in this urgent situation. These include:


  • Contributing financially to organizations aiding the communities most in need right now. Three such agencies that BDJ has partnered with before are Magen David AdomLEKET and the JNF’s campaign to support the communities of the Gaza Envelope.

SHABBAT MINYANIM
While we are excited by the recent CDC announcement, we are still awaiting guidance from the LA County Department of Health with regard to how and when to implement any new protocols. As a result, masks are still required for everyone inside the BDJ building or at our outdoor minyanim, except for those under 2 or with special needs.
Friday Night: The Blumofe Backyard at 7:00 PM

Saturday Morning:

  • Teen Minyan at 10:00 AM at the Kent backyard (9101 Cresta Dr.)

You must have pre-registered to attend minyan at BDJ on Shabbat morning. Please allow time for check in upon your arrival to shul. Masks are required for everyone the entire time they are inside the building (or at any of our minyanim).
RECHOV YELADIM
Rechov Yeladim for Shabbat May 15th

Drop off for Rechov Yeladim kids (age 2 - Grade 6) starts at 9:00 AM. Pickup is at 11:00 AM, or 15 minutes after davening ends. Children must be preregistered and social distancing and masks are required of all kids and adults attending Rechov Yeladim.

  • Ages 0 - 2: Children under 2 years may be brought to minyanim and stay with their parents.

  • Ages 2 - 5: Drop off at 9:00 AM at the Weiss-Cohen backyard (8857 Saturn Street)

  • Minyan for Minions, grades 1-3: 9:00 AM in the Stein backyard (1462 S. Canfield Ave)

  • Tween Minyan, grades 4-6: 9:00 AM in the Garelick backyard (1631 Livonia)

We'll be learning and teaching throughout the chag -- in the building and in backyards, with friends and at home! We look forward to introducing חלום דניאלThe Daniel Barach z"l Shavuot Program, and learning from our Scholar-in-Residence Rabbi Dr. Shlomo Zuckier.

As a reminder, BDJ requires preregistration for Tefilla only and no registration is needed to attend shiurim.

These are several of the topics we'll explore in the 5781 edition Nosh & Drosh, the best thing for those long Shabbat summer afternoons. This summer's program will include guest panelists from across town and across the country, as well as from our own BDJ community. 

  • Mark your calendars for the first event, Shabbat Sh'lach, June 5Getting Caught in the Middle of the Intersectionality: Wrestling with Zionism and Social Activism.  Additional details to follow; locations will include private backyards and BDJ (and one mid-week zoom), and will follow local public health guidance. 
COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • Women’s Health in 2021: "Why it Matters More than Ever" and will take place on Monday, May 24th at 8:00 pm. This exciting event features a special presentation on Women's health screenings by Dr. Atara Geft, a personal story by previvor Nancy Schiff and will be moderated by Yoetzet Halacha Ilana Gadish and Yoetzet Halacha Dr. Jordana Topp. More information here.
