THIS SUNDAY! January 30th | 9:30 AM | BDJ Beit Midrash
A Heart of Many Rooms: Building a Complex & Nuanced Zionism.
Session III: Personal Stories and Perspectives from East Jerusalem.
with speakers Amal Khayat and Mahfouz Turk.
After the second session of BDJ’s three-part series, “Nuanced Zionism,” our BDJ group agreed that we couldn’t yet move to the final planned session without also including voices from East Jerusalem:
Amal Khayat is a graduate of Al Quds University in East Jerusalem and is currently pursuing her PhD in Public Health at the Hebrew University. She is in training to be a dialogue facilitator with Siach Shalom (“Talking Peace”) and is the Palestinian coordinator for the UK-based organization Solutions Not Sides.
Mahfouz Turk is an East Jerusalem photojournalist who has been documenting the Palestinian story in East Jerusalem and the West Bank for many decades. He has worked for Reuters and several other news agencies over the course of his career and was among the first photojournalists to enter Jenin in 2002. As a young man, he spent time in Israeli prison for non-violent political offences.
