June 19, 2020

Dear Friends,

We all miss being together, and one of the spaces that gives us the greatest joy is our sanctuary on Shabbat morning.  This is one of the centers of our connection and strength as a community.  As you know, we recently began to come together for evening minyanim which has been well received.  We are now ready to begin the second step in resuming limited, in-person activities at TIC with our Shabbat morning service that will begin on Saturday, June 27 th .  We are very excited to announce that we now have livestream capability in the sanctuary, making it possible to share these services with those at home.  Click here for the livestreaming link.  Experimenting with this technology all summer will allow us to perfect our skills in order to be best prepared to offer a successful virtual option for the Days of Awe, in addition to any in-person offerings we may be able to offer.

Although we are all excited about this big step forward, we understand that there are many in the community who are not yet ready or able to join and are working hard to reach out to all of our members.  In the near term, participation will be greatly limited but we believe this is a good start and, if well implemented, will be open to even more individuals in the future.   We are thrilled that the few that will be able to participate in person and the many that will join the livestream will all be able to celebrate Shabbat together.  Details on participation in the Shabbat morning service will be communicated next week as we get closer to the reopening.

Thank you to our Re-Opening Task Force and its many subcommittees for working to navigate through these issues thoughtfully and safely.  Similar to evening minyan, we continue to use guidance from the CDC as well as the NY State Department of Health in our reopening strategy. See our Shabbat Morning Guidelines hereThe many members of our congregation who have been working on these issues are listed below.  Please feel free to connect with any of them regarding any questions or concerns.  We look forward to your continued suggestions and feedback as we work to make our operations safe, seamless, and inclusive.

Even while apart we remain T.I.C. - together in community,
