This is Kfir Bibas. He was kidnapped by Hamas on October 7 and has been held hostage along with his parents and his four year old brother Ariel. Kfir turned one year old a month ago. He celebrated his 1st birthday in Hell, in Gaza. The world, and even Western leaders don't seem to care at all. They care about Palestinian children that Hamas hides behind, but don't care about Jewish babies. But they must, and we must not rest until the hostages are home safe. Only then can there be a ceasefire. Why is that so difficult to understand?

On October 7th Hamas and its supporters and many fellow residents of Gaza woke a mother bear and savagely attacked her young and carried off hundreds of them into captivity. Like any mother bear she will stop at nothing to get her cubs back safely home. Instead of criticizing the mother bear, why isn't all the pressure on those who still have her cubs in their caves and tunnels?

Once Kfir and the other hostages are back in Israel, we can stop fighting. But unless you can stop that mother bear from getting her cubs back, and from doing whatever it takes to protect her other families from future attacks, don't expect from Israel what you'd never expect from a mother bear.

Dan will share his insights on the healthcare landscape in our community. He will discuss the enduring impact of COVID on care delivery and on our workforce, the impact of our demographics, and broader dynamics in healthcare and how they may impact our communities and our families.

About Our Speaker:

Dan Landesberg, MBA, is interim Vice President, Facilities Planning and Construction for Geisinger. He has responsibility for Geisinger’s construction project management, facilities operations, and real estate divisions. This comprises 10.5 million square feet of building space, 280 buildings (including 10 hospitals), over $1 billion in active projects, and nearly 300 team members across Geisinger’s enterprise.

Prior to stepping into this interim role in mid-2023, Dan was Associate Vice President, Clinical Operations, for Geisinger Northeast. He was responsible for clinical operations, strategic, business, and capital planning, new program development, and employee and patient engagement activities. Dan led the planning and execution of over $200 million in major expansion projects in Northeast PA, including the Henry Cancer Center Expansion at Geisinger Wyoming Valley (GWV) and Geisinger Healthplex CenterPoint in Pittston, both of which opened in 2022. GWV’s Medical Office Building and parking garage opened in late March 2024.

During Dan’s tenure, GWV became a Level 1 Trauma Center, a Comprehensive Stroke and Heart Attack Center, a Magnet®-designated facility, and a CMS 5-Star facility. In his prior role as Administrative Director, he led the revitalization of Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre from an outpatient campus back into a full-service, 48-bed acute care hospital, including the reopening of the Emergency Department in July 2018. He also led Geisinger Marworth, a drug and alcohol treatment center, on an interim basis from February 2019 to March 2020.

Dan was recognized by Becker’s Healthcare as a “Rising Star: Healthcare Leader under 40” in 2023 and was named “NEPA Influencer of the Year” by the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce as part of its annual Young Professionals Awards in 2018. Prior to starting his current role in June 2016, Dan completed Geisinger's Administrative Fellowship and now serves as a preceptor within the program. Dan also maintains an active presence in the community. He is the Board President for the Luzerne County Community College Foundation, serves as program chair of Leadership Northeast’s Executive Leadership program and Board Member of Leadership Northeast.
