KOL HAKAVOD CAMPAIGN

Please consider being a part of this campaign to supplement the clergy needs of our congregation.   This is a separate, voluntary commitment  and is additional to our low annual dues obligation. HERE IS THE LINK TO BRING UP THE DONATION FORM  KOL HAKAVOD

WOMEN'S AUXILIARY

With all the uncertainties facing us in these times, it is important for our JCC community to retain and strengthen our traditions. One of our most cherished traditions as a New Year begins is honey... a taste of honey. The Women's Auxillary of the JCC of LBI is sponsoring
"Honey   from the  Heart"
a program where you can send your loved ones - family, friends and colleagues - near and far, a jar of honey with a personalized New Year's greeting. Treat yourself and your family this New Year. Look for details soon.

THE WEEK THAT WAS...

We were glad to see so many of you - especially our "first timers" - on the special Zoom programs last week. A great discussion of the film "Unorthodox" took place on Thursday evening with 35 families, topped on Sunday night with 55 particpants enjoying the give and take with writer/producer Sam Hoffman ("Humor Me").

Thank you to Sam for joining us and sharing your insights into making the film.  A thank you also to Rick Abrams who added to the Kabbalat service with his guitar.

TO SAM BRAUN
on being Bar Mitzvah
Sam is the  son of
Kim & Joshua Braun
grandson of
Renee & Rob VanNaarden
brother of
Sophie & Eliana

Sam Braun is a 7th-grade student at Edison Intermediate School in Westfield, NJ. He is excited to celebrate becoming a Bar Mitzvah with Rabbi Jay, the JCC of Long Beach Island community, and his family and friends around the world. Sam is an avid ultimate frisbee player on the Westfield Blue Devils Ultimate Team. He channeled this passion to organize the 1st annual Play for Purpose Ultimate frisbee tournament to raise awareness and funds for Parkinson's research. While it has been postponed until the fall, he is committed to supporting this
challenging condition. Sam achieved his black belt in karate and loves skateboarding and music. He plays the piano, bass clarinet in the school concert band, and electric guitar in a rock and blues band. Sam looks forward to his summers with Grammy and Pop Pop and the rest of his family on LBI. Sam is a committed congregant of the JCC of LBI, nameplate and all. He feels very fortunate to have the opportunity to become a Bar Mitzvah, particularly during this challenging time.

The congregation is invited to join the family on Zoom to enjoy the bar mitzvah service
