By Rabbi Sholom Lew, emissary of the Rebbe to Glendale, AZ

It's a safe bet you’ve not traveled to Hadhramaut, never mind heard of the location. Yet it does exist, though it may not feature high on the list of places to visit before you die. Hadhramaut is an ancient region, located somewhere in the hardscrabble deserts of eastern Yemen. Its name, according to many linguistic scholars, stems from the Arabic words for “death has come.” An old fable related to this name would suggest a locale with a morbid fascination with death.

It is told of one of the most devoted followers of the holy Rebbe, Rabbi Meir of Premishlan, of blessed memory, when he set out on one of his lengthy journeys to attend to his extensive business affairs.

He traveled from city to city and, thank G-d, enjoyed great success in all his business dealings. After several months, he returned home and, without saying a word to anyone, went straight to the home of his holy Rebbe, Rabbi Meirl.

Noach, Menachem, Moshiach

From Chabadwestside.org

The Torah connects the word Noach to the word yenachameinu. This word, Rashi states, means “he will bring us ease.” Rashi then cites an alternate translation as “he will comfort us.” However, Rashi says that if that was the correct meaning for Noach, he should have been called Menachem, which means “comforter.”

On a deeper level, Rashi seems to suggest that what Noach began remained incomplete and thus he could not be called Menachem-Comforter. That name was reserved for Moshiach, as the Talmud (Sanhedrim 98b) says, Menachem is the name of Moshiach.

And this is the master recipe I am including below, with complete instructions on each variation. But there are many more couscous combos, and you will learn to play with all variations, including vegetarian, as I am instructed. Rachel and Leah are old friends.

They have both been married to their husbands for a long time. Leah is upset because she thinks her husband doesn't find her attractive anymore.

"As I get older he doesn't bother to look at me!" Leah cries.

"I'm so sorry for you, as I get older my husband says I get more beautiful every day." replies Rachel.

"Yes, but your husband's an antique dealer!"

"Everyone must regard himself and the world as evenly poised between good and guilt...If he performed a good deed, he has shifted the balance of his fate, and that of the entire world to good, and has brought deliverance and salvation upon himself and upon them all."
