From the Board

Dear Shir Libeynu Members,

We hope you are well, staying healthy and managing through this difficult time. It's hard to be at home when the weather is changing and the outside beckons.

The board is working hard to create Shir Libeynu activities we can offer online. Daniela Gesundheit will be starting us off by leading a Shabbat service on May 2 nd . You will find information about how to register below.

We are also trying to figure out how to plan for the High Holidays. We have more questions than answers at the moment. We have reached out to other congregations to learn what they are thinking. We'll have more information for you in the near future.

And, again, we are looking for volunteers. If you would like to offer something virtually, help organize an event, or participate in a phone tree to reach out to other congregants to make sure everyone is alright, please contact Natalie at  communityhelp@shirlibeynu.ca . We would love to hear from you.

We are all trying to get through this seemingly endless time in whatever way works best. As the Hebrew saying goes,  gam zeh ya'avor , this too shall pass. We'll be back outside and visiting our favourite spots at some point, hopefully in the not too distant future.

Board of Directors

Hineinu: Shir Libeynu Member Invites You to Join Contemplative Practice

Shir Libeynu member Lorne Blumer leads a community for Jewish contemplative practice called Hineinu (Hebrew for “here we are”), with services currently being offered online.   The next one will be on Saturday, May 9 at 10:30 am.

Hineinu services (which never conflict with Shir Libeynu services) combine meditation, silence, chanting and prayer, with the intention of experiencing Shabbat as what Abraham Joshua Heschel has described as “a sanctuary in time.”  If you have questions or would like to be on the Hineinu e-mail list, contact Lorne at   HineinuTO@gmail.com .
