Shabbat Shalom Shaarei Kodesh,
As we approach the concluding days of Passover, we're reminded of the courage and faith shown by Nachshon ben Aminadav, when we read the accounting of the splitting of the Sea of Reeds on the 7th day of Passover. According to rabbinic tradition, Nachshon was the first Israelite who stepped boldly into the Sea of Reeds before it parted, demonstrating bravery and trust in the divine promise.
At Congregation Shaarei Kodesh, our founders embodied a similar spirit of innovation and courage when they transformed the traditional Ritual Committee into the Spiritual Life Committee. They understood that synagogue life encompasses much more than ritual alone—it's about fostering spiritual growth, nurturing meaningful community relationships, and deepening Jewish engagement.
In addition to making timely and necessary changes to our ritual practices, our Spiritual Life Committee has created inspiring and unique experiences, such as our beloved "Spirits" of Shabbat gatherings, the uplifting Sunrise Selichot on the Beach, and innovative holiday programming like our PJ Passover service, Tu Bishvat Seders, Purim Shpiels, and other creative holiday programming. We've brought renowned teachers, rabbis, and speakers to enrich our community with fresh Torah insights. Our commitment to inclusivity ensures our spiritual practices warmly embrace all individuals, regardless of background or ability.
We invite you, like Nachshon Ben Aminadav, to take that brave step forward and become part of this vibrant leadership team. If you're ready to deepen your impact and contribute meaningfully to the spiritual life of our congregation, please consider joining us on the evening of April 24, as we come together on Zoom at 6:30 PM, to plan this year’s Tikkun Leil Shavuot, a night of learning at CSK. On Shavuot (which begins on Sunday night, June 1), we will stay up all night, learning from congregants and clergy until the sun rises for our morning service, including the recitation of The 10 Commandments.
We are the only non-Orthodox congregation that has held an all night Tikkun Leil Shavuot in all of South Florida! Please help us keep the streak going and join us for our next Spiritual Life meeting on Thursday, April 24 at 6:30 PM on Zoom
(Meeting ID: 843 3834 4592 Passcode: 839836).
Wishing you all a meaningful end to your Passover holiday.
