London Attack
Our hearts go out to the people of England-and most especially to those killed or injured in Wednesday's terror attack.
Wednesday was the first time in recent years that I heard any comparison being made between what Israel has been experiencing and enduring in the "Stabbing Intifada" and the bus/car/truck rammings and the European attacks. Previous attempts to associate Israel as a victim of the same terrorist mindset, like Je Suis Charlie / I am Israel, ring hollow to many around the world.
Why is that? Because many perceive Israel as the aggressor/oppressor vis-à-vis the Palestinians - and, if not, then Israel is, at least partially, if not wholly, to blame for the waves of terror unleashed against her.
An attempt at another explanation is to found in the article below, which I have been hanging on to for 8 months:
Why Israel Gets Little Sympathy When Terrorists Strike  The world seemingly does not care because few see this as anything other than a spat between neighbors as opposed to a clash of civilizations, and most react to terror in Israel no differently from how many Israelis react to terror in Turkey: "It's unfortunate, but it's just not my problem."
But being a pro-Palestinian supporter means having to ignore this:
And ignore this:

Arr est in JCC Bomb Threats
This news is hours-old as I write on Thursday afternoon. My initial reaction to the news: Jewish or not, string him up! He has caused untold anguish and fear, not to mention diverting precious security resources. He has brought shame on himself, his family, and all Jews everywhere.
Yes, it crossed my mind that this is a disturbed individual, but what he did is unconscionable.
And then I read a few press reports; perhaps I have been too harsh:
The teen's attorney told the court that the young man has had a brain tumor since the age of 14, and has been homeschooled since then. The attorney said that the tumor affects his behavior, Ynet reported.
The teen reportedly used advanced technology and voice-altering equipment to call in the threats to more than 100 JCCs, Jewish day schools and other Jewish institutions in the United States, according to The Times of Israel. He also is accused of making a threatening call to Delta Airlines, leading to the emergency landing of at least one plane.
During the cyber unit's raid on the teen's home, police found a computer lab with sophisticated equipment, encryption and transmission systems, and a powerful antenna, according to reports.
The army refused to draft the teen after finding him unfit for service, Haaretz reported.
His father also has been detained on suspicion that he knew about his son's activities, and ordered held in jail until March 30.
Israel's minister of public security, Gilad Erdan, commented on the teen's arrest.
"I congratulate the Israeli police on leading a complex international investigation, together with law enforcement agencies from around the world, which led to the arrest of the suspect," Erdan said. "We hope that this investigation will help shed light on some of the recent threats against Jewish institutions, which have caused great concern both among Jewish communities and the Israeli government."

Passover
It's less than 3 weeks until Passover:

AIPAC
I don't see AIPAC and the Policy Conference as even remotely resembling what is portrayed in this article, but I would be remiss if I didn't share it with you:
Shabbat Minha and AIPAC
Among the speakers we will be hearing at the Policy Conference in Washington, DC, is U.S. Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley (Monday afternoon). She has hit the ground running in her new post, and has made no bones about calling 'em as she sees 'em, especially where Israel and the UN is concerned. At S'uda Sh'lishit, we be reading a piece in praise of our UN ambassador. Why don't you join us at 6:45 PM?

Maybe this is why U. S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson did not make an appearance when his Department's annual Human Rights Report was released:

A New York Times editorial and a number of other media outlets claim that Israel's new law restricting access to the country for some of those advocating a boycott of the Jewish state bars entry to anyone who "supports" BDS. In fact, the law is worded much more narrowly, and refers not to supporters but rather anyone "who knowingly issues a public call for boycotting Israel that, given the content of the call and the circumstances in which it was issued, has a reasonable possibility of leading to the imposition of a boycott - if the issuer was aware of this possibility." The U.S. has long had similar restrictions. Section 212(a) of the Immigration and Nationality Act says that an alien "whose entry or proposed activities in the United States the Secretary of State has reasonable ground to believe would have potentially serious adverse foreign policy consequences for the United States is inadmissible." That's much broader than Israel's language. It also bars those who would break laws for the purpose of "opposition to...the United States."
It's Time for Intersectionality to Include the Jews
Intersectional theory is uniquely suited to take on anti-Semitism. But intersectional activists often refuse to do so, perpetuating the prejudice instead.

Creative Action Network
Creative Action Network and the Anti-Defamation League are teaming up to invite artists to illustrate refugee stories from across time and geography. Maybe your family fled pogroms in Eastern Europe, from Nazism, from political oppression in Iran or the Soviet Union. Maybe you know someone who fled Uganda or other countries that persecute members of the LGBT community, maybe you are concerned about how many today have to flee extreme violence and persecution. No matter where refugees came from or their reason for fleeing, each story is unique--but connected. We hope to build a collection of pieces that rise above the noise and hateful rhetoric by humanizing the refugee experience.
Crowdsourced, creative campaigns that enlist artist and designers to create work around different ideas and causes. All designs that meet the requirements in their respective creative briefs will be published and made available for sale as prints and other merchandise. Artists retain ownership of their work but grant us permission to promote, license and sell it in exchange for 40% of the proceeds.

Torah Portion

TORAH Page 552, 380   HAFTARAH Page 1291
VA-YAK · HEL-P'KUDEI

After Moses' descent from Mount Sinai with the second set of tablets, he informed the people of God's instructions for the construction of the Sanctuary. Moses also emphasized the importance of refraining from any kind of work on Shabbat. The Israelites responded to Moses' appeal for voluntary contributions of material and assistance most generously; their donations exceeded what was required.
The total cost incurred in the construction of the Sanctuary was counted at Moses' command under the direction of Itamar, Aaron's youngest son. The weight of the gold amounted to 29 talents and 730 shekels; of the silver to 100 talents and 1,775 shekels, and of the brass to 70 talents and 2,400 shekels. The work, having been completed with the making of the priestly garments, was inspected and approved by Moses, who blessed the people for their magnificent achievement.

On the first day of the first month (i.e. Nisan, almost a year after the departure from Egypt), the Tabernacle was erected under Moses' personal supervision, and the contents were arranged in the prescribed order. A cloud covered the Tabernacle, which was filled with God's glory. Whenever the cloud lifted it gave the signal to the Israelites to continue their journey.

With the Sidra Pekude we conclude the Book of Exodus
HA-HODESH
From the second Torah scroll we read a passage from Chapter 12 of Exodus which proclaims the importance of the month of Nisan-the month in which Passover and the exodus from Egypt took place. This portion is always read on the Shabbat preceding the beginning of the month of Nisan, or on Rosh Hodesh Nisan itself, if it falls on Shabbat. It is one more reminder of the approach of Passover.
