JV and Varsity STORM Soccer Teams Victorious

Storm JV Soccer played an excellent game against Kushner this week, with an impressive 11-1 win. This brings the team's record to a solid 3-0.

TABC's Varsity Soccer team  continued its unbeaten ways by defeating an undermanned Maor team by a score of
15-2.

Both games provided opportunities for many subs to get play time, and everyone had a good time! Two great victories for Storm soccer!

TABC Science Olympiad Team
Takes First Place
Congratulations to TABC's Science Olympiad team on their overall first place win on Sunday! After meeting for davening and breakfast, the team headed to Lander's College in Queens to compete against 13 area yeshivot in the annual Science Olympiad. The boys had been preparing for quite a while for the 12 competitions in areas involving the physical sciences, scientific writing, and engineering. Their hard work paid off handsomely earning a comfortable overall first place among the other yeshivot!
5 TABC Students Qualify for the National Finals of the Chidon HaTanach
TABC continues to be a Chidon HaTanach powerhouse.  Each of the students who participated in the Chidon have qualified to participate in the National Finals to be held in May.  Congratulations to Tani Greengart '18, Ephraim Helfgot '20, Shmuel Ross '18, Akiva Sturm '19 and Nathanael Vinar '19 who performed with excellence.
We also wish the best of luck to Shlomi Helfgot '18 who, by winning in the nationals last year, will be participating in the International Chidon HaTanach next month.  Kudos to coach Rabbi Neil Winkler who guides our students via Skype from Jerusalem and Rabbi Jachter for coordinating this program.

What if Shakespeare's  Characters
Communicated via Text Messages?
Mrs. Miller's ninth grade students have begun to read William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. They discussed how the events of Act I take place largely as conversations between different groups of characters about the events taking place in Rome. In order to see how both Caesar and the conspirators use private conversations to sway others, and to find out information, students transformed the lines into text conversations. They enjoyed using informal language and emojis as they adapted Shakespeare's words to modern times.

Shmuel Adler '18 Attends
Hofstra University Evaluation of Presidential Leadership Symposium
This past week Dr. Garry Katz accompanied Shmuel Adler of the eleventh grade AP American History class as he attended the 6th annual Hofstra University Evaluation of Presidential Leadership Symposium for high school students.  This event featured Hofstra's Peter S. Kalikow Center for the Study of the American Presidency Senior Presidential Fellows, Republican Party strategist Ed Rollins, and former Vermont Governor and Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean.  The symposium was sponsored by the School of Education and the Kalikow Center, which is part of Hofstra's Peter S. Kalikow School for Government, Public Policy and International Affairs in the Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. At the event, Mr. Rollins and Mr. Dean spoke about the election and the beginning of the Trump presidency to over 800 Advanced Placements students, most from Long Island.  Shmuel Adler wrote one of the two winning essays (Yaakov Miller '17 from the AP Government class wrote the other) in the essay contest held in preparation for the event.  Hofstra will be publishing these essays in the commemorative booklet stemming from the event.
Our Physics Students Study
Polarized Light
Light is a wave. Natural light, even one color laser light, exhibits a scrambled polarization. In other words, these waves arrive at a target with all and any orientation on all axes. Our physics classes learned that scrambled green laser light reflected off glass at a carefully calculated angle becomes polarized. Polarized means that the waves propagate together in only a horizontal or vertical plane. Polarized sunglasses utilize this phenomenon to cut down on reflected glare.
