Torah Reading
TAZRI·A
This morning's Sidra opens with the laws of confinement following childbirth. Biblical law deemed women to be "ritually unfit" after giving birth. At the conclusion of this period, the mother was enjoined to bring a burnt offering and a sin offering, and she could then resume normal activity. The laws dealing with leprosy, and the restrictions placed upon lepers, follow somewhat logically. Anyone with a skin disease was also conside
red to be ritually unfit, and a period of confinement was imposed upon the individual by the priest, who examined the afflicted individual at regular intervals. These passages demonstrate most convincingly that the priests' role extended beyond the precincts of the Sanctuary and the domain of the sacrificial cult.

M'TZORA
The Sidra Metzora is a continuation of the laws applying to the people afflicted with skin diseases. When a person was cured of leprosy, the priest examined the individual prior to his/her re-admission to the Israelite encampment. The procedures for ritually cleansing the leper lasted eight days.
Objects as well as people could contract a form of leprosy, and the Torah discusses the spread of leprosy to clothing and other fabrics, and to the walls (including stone walls!) of houses. Depending on the severity of the infestation, the house might be closed or have to be torn down, without the possibility of re-using the materials.  Other bodily discharges also render a person (and all that she/he comes into contact with) ritually unfit. These matters are dealt with at the parasha's conclusion.

Authorities: NYC Man Blames Jews For COVID-19, Assaults Fort Lee Dunkin' Donuts Customer:
A Queens man threatened a Jewish customer at a Dunkin' Donuts in Fort Lee, telling him that "Jews are responsible" for the coronavirus and deliberately bumping into him, authorities charged.  Afrim Haxhaj, 30, of Jackson Heights confronted the victim in the shop on Monday, telling him to leave and blaming Jews for COVID-19, state Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal said.  He also told him not to come back, Grewal said.  When the victim returned to the Dunkin Donuts on Tuesday, Haxhaj threatened him again, "saying he does not want Jews in his neighborhood and bumping his chest into the victim," the attorney general said.  The victim left and called police, who charged Haxhaj with bias intimidation and harassment.

New Government Programs
Due to the current financial situation caused by the Corona Virus and slowdown in the economy, the Government has decided to implement a scheme to put workers of 50 years of age and above on early, mandatory retirement, thus creating jobs and reducing unemployment.
This scheme will be known as
RAPE (Retire Aged People Early).
Persons selected to be RAPED can apply to the Government to be considered for the SHAFT program (Special Help After Forced Termination).
Persons who have been RAPED and SHAFTED will be reviewed under the SCREW program (System Covering Retired-Early Workers).
A person may be RAPED once, SHAFTED twice and SCREWED as many times as the Government deems appropriate.
Persons who have been RAPED could get AIDS (Additional Income for Dependents & Spouse) or HERPES (Half Earnings for Retired Personnel Early Severance).
Obviously persons who have AIDS or HERPES will not be SHAFTED or SCREWED any further by the Government.
Sincerely,
The Committee for Economic Value of Individual Lives (E.V.I.L.)
