Summer is suddenly here! And our Young Family Programs are back, indoors and outside, bringing families together. We’ve enjoyed Havdalah at our playground, meet-up at the park, and singing with Cantor Cotler. Our Jamberry music class, with Nicole Jaworski, co-sponsored by JBaby, is meeting through June, and our Sh’ma pillowcase painting party last month, co-sponsored by PJ Library, brought some first -timers to Beth Emet. These are such fun ways to meet other families, introduce kids to the joys of Jewish living, and connect to the vibrant Beth Emet community. New families are always welcome, and grandparents too. 

Stay tuned for new outdoor summer programs in June and July.

Kabbalat Mitzvah

Parents: Dave and Nicole Berger
Jackson is a 7th grade student at Nichols Middle School. His favorite subjects are Math and French. Jackson is on the Evanston 13U travel baseball team. He also plays tennis, golf, and volleyball. He has been taking drum lessons since the age of six and is currently learning general drumming including, Jazz and swing beats. Jackson’s G'milut Chasadim Project is dedicated to Clearbrook North. Clearbrook is a local non-profit that supports individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities. Clearbrook serves people over a range of ages and disabilities from children diagnosed with developmental delays at birth to the unique needs of seniors with disabilities and all ages in between. Clearbrook has several residential facilities that house individuals with severe needs who cannot support or care for themselves on their own. Jackson learned about Clearbrook North because he has an Aunt with severe cerebral palsy who currently lives and receives care at one of Clearbrook’s residential facilities.

I am excited for my Kabbalat mitzvah because I am looking forward to becoming a Jewish adult and taking a larger role in the Jewish community.

Winifred (Freddie) Rimkus Gantwerker was born on Sunday, May 8. Freddie is the daughter of Anne Rimkus and Jeff Gantwerker and sister of Charlie.

Irene Landau has died on Wednesday, April 13. Irene was the wife of the late Melvin Landau, mother of Julie (Tsvi) and Michael Landau, and grandmother of Miri and Noa. Read More

Elaine Bell died on Tuesday, May 3 at the age of 100. Elaine was the wife of the late Bernard B. Bell, mother of Andrea (Martin) Freed and Judy (Jerome) Tatar, grandmother of Amy (Joshua) Yulish, Ben (Brooke) Freed, Daniel (Stephanie) Tatar, Michael (Erin) Tatar and Laura Tatar, and great grandmother of Hannah Yulish, Zachary Yulish, Olivia Tatar, Maddy Freed, Emma Freed and Shira Tatar.
