Shabbat Inspiration, Worship and Weekend Schedule

We have so much to look forward to in the coming weeks; Thanksgiving, Chanukah, and the secular new year. But what I am most looking forward to is Shabbat tonight! It seems like every week more and more people are venturing from their computer screens into the sanctuary to worship and sing in person. The sanctuary grows more vibrant with each passing week, so I hope you will consider joining us soon.

Well, if you come to services tonight you can help honor the selfless individuals who kept our country safe and secure. Tonight we honor our veterans. And if you come to services tonight you can also witness the dedication of a new mantle for our Czech Holocaust Torah scroll. It is one of our most treasured relics. But if that's not enough to entice you to drop by or tune in, I am thrilled to share that my dad, Cantor Doug Cotler, will be joining me on the bimah. 
 
I hope to see you or feel your digital presence at services tonight. And keep your eyes peeled for all our wonderful Chanukah programs and events!

Kabbalat Shabbat Services with Dedication of the New Mantle for the Czech Torah Scroll and Blessing for Veterans

On Tuesday, November 9 we marked Kristallnacht, the Night of Broken Glass, in which violent acts of antisemitism took place in Nazi Germany and surrounding regions occupied by German troops. In commemoration of this anniversary, we will dedicate a new mantle for our Czech Memorial Trust Torah Scroll (the old one is pictured here), which survived the Holocaust. This mantle is designed by Beth Emet's own Jerri Zbiral with the assistance of Alan Teller and Peter Sis and donated by Sharon and David Kessler in memory of David's parents.
In honor of Veteran’s Day, which we observe on November 11, we want to offer a blessing to those who served our country. At Friday night’s Shabbat Services, November 12, we welcome the veterans of our community to attend in person, or via LiveControl. If you or someone you know is a veteran, please invite them to receive this blessing.

Advanced registration is encouraged but not required for those who have already submitted vax information. If you have not yet shared the date of your vaccinations and signed the Brit (Covenant of Responsibility), please complete the online form before coming for services.

Here’s the description we made of our Mitzvah Project.
Hello! My name is Ryan. I go to Nichols Middle School. My favorite subjects are Spanish, Language Arts, and Social Studies. When I'm not in school I like to hang out with my friends and play volleyball. My Kabbalat Mitzvah Project is revamping the clothing room at Hilda’s Place, owned by Connections For The Homeless. I chose that because I really want to help
people in need and this project will help the clothing room look cleaner, neater, and more accessible. I'm looking forward to my Kabbalat Mitzvah because it marks my becoming a Jewish adult and I have been practicing, learning, and studying for so long for my mitzvah and now it will all pay off.
Hi, my name is Cameron. I go to Nichols Middle school. Some subjects I like include Art, Spanish, and P.E. When I'm not in school I like to hang out with my friends. My Kabbalat Mitzvah project is revamping the clothing room at Connections for the Homeless. I chose that because Connections is a great organization that helps people without homes with regular human necessities. Connections needs help reorganizing and updating their clothing room so that is what my project is going to help do. I’m looking forward to my Kabbalat Mitzvah because it is a huge milestone and something I have been preparing very hard for.
